(Worthy News) – A huge boom in immigration, legal and illegal, over the past 16 years has jumped the immigrant population to over 43 million in the United States, according to a new report.

And when their U.S.-born children are added, the number grows to over 60 million, making the immigrant community nearly one-fifth of the nation’s population, according to federal statistics reviewed by the Center for Immigration Studies.

Steven Camarota, the Center’s director of research and co-author of the report, said, “The enormous number of immigrants already in the country coupled with the settlement of well over a million newcomers each year has a profound impact on American society, including on workers, schools, infrastructure, hospitals and the environment. (Worthy News) – A Christian teenager in northern India was jailed for 12 days after anti-Hindu comments appeared on a fake Facebook account in his name, sources said.

Sandeep Kumar, 18, christened Karan Anthony, was released on bail 12 days after being arrested on Aug. 23 and charged with posting anti-Hindu comments on Facebook in Uttar Pradesh state. The University of Allahabad student of agricultural sciences was arrested when members of the Hindu extremist Rudra Sena in his home area of Kasganj District filed a complaint with police.

“I did not make any posts on Facebook,” Anthony told Morning Star News. “It was my good friend who falsely framed me by joining hands with Rudra Sena activists.” [ Source: Morningstar News (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – Tropical Storm Lan formed over the weekend in the Philippine Sea between the Mariana Islands and the Philippines.

Lan is expected to strengthen significantly this week while tracking northward over the open waters of the western Pacific Ocean.

This track over very warm water with low wind shear will allow the cyclone to become a typhoon with an intensity equal to that of a major hurricane in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific oceans.

There is a chance for Lan to become a super typhoon between Friday and Sunday as it passes east of Taiwan and Japan’s Ryukyu Islands.

A super typhoon contains sustained winds of at least 241 km/h (150 mph) and is the equivalent of a strong Category 4 or 5 hurricane. [ Source: Accuweather (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – A unit of US special forces tasked with carrying out ‘decapitation’ operations may be aboard a nuclear-powered submarine docked in the South Korean port of Busan, the nation’s newswire reported on Monday, citing a defense source.

The USS Michigan, an 18,000-metric ton submarine, arrived in Busan on Friday, ahead of a ten day joint US-South Korean drill led by the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier.

The US Navy maintains that the Michigan, known for carrying special-ops teams, is docked in a “routine port visit.” The US military also denies training for decapitation missions or regime change, and does not typically comment on Navy SEAL deployments.

The storm force winds cleared Ireland’s coast by midnight, but people were warned to remain cautious in the aftermath of the extreme weather. A second day of disruption was expected in Scotland and North East England due to fallen trees blocking rail lines.
