Heritage Foundation: 64% of Trump’s agenda already done, faster than Reagan

(Worthy News) – With unprecedented speed, the Trump administration has already implemented nearly two-thirds of the 334 agenda items called for by the Heritage Foundation, a pace faster than former President Reagan who embraced the conservative think tank’s legendary “Mandate for Leadership” blueprint.

In Heritage’s review of Trump’s moves so far, they highlighted these actions:

Leaving the Paris Climate Accord: In August 2017, Trump announced the U.S. was ending its funding and membership in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Repealing Net Neutrality: In December 2017, Trump’s Federal Communications Commission chairman proposed ending the 2015 network neutrality rules.

Reshaping National Monuments: Heritage’s recommendation to prohibit Land Acquisition (Cap and Reduce the Size of the Federal Estate) was adopted by Trump when he issued two executive orders effectively shrinking the size of national monuments in Utah.

Reinstating the Mexico City Policy: This executive order prevents taxpayer money from funding international groups involved in abortion and ending funding to the United Nations Population fund. On Jan. 23, 2017, in his first pro-life action, Trump signed an executive order today reinstating the Mexico City Policy.

Increasing Military Spending: Trump’s budget calls for a $54 billion increase in military spending to improve capacity, capability, and readiness of America’s armed forces.

Reforming Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF): The Trump administration adopted and is in favor of strengthening existing work requirements in order to receive benefits.

Allowing Development of Natural Resources: The Trump administration opened off-shore drilling and on federal lands. Executive Order 13783 directed Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to commence federal land coal leasing activities.

Reforming Government Agencies: Trump tasked each of his Cabinet secretaries to prepare detailed plans on how they propose to reduce the scope and size of their respective departments while streamlining services and ensuring each department runs more efficiently and handles tax dollars appropriately.

Withdrawing from UNESCO: In October 2017, Trump announced he was putting an end to U.S. membership in the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Israel aims to eliminate use of coal, gasoline and diesel by 2030

(Worthy News) – The Energy Ministry forecast Tuesday that within 12 years Israel would be fully reliant on natural gas and alternative fuels for the production of electricity and for transportation.

“We intend to reach a situation in which Israel’s industry will be based on natural gas, and most importantly, transportation in Israel will be based on natural gas or electricity,” Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said at an energy conference in Tel Aviv. “From 2030 onwards, the State of Israel will create alternatives and will no longer allow the import of cars that run on gasoline and diesel fuel.”

Steinitz said he would be submitting a master plan with this vision to the government. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Satellite image said to show new Iranian military base in Syria

(Worthy News) – Satellite images of an area near Damascus appear to show an Iranian military base which could house missiles capable of hitting Israel, according to a report early Wednesday.

A picture of the reported base, in an area known as Jabal al-Sharqi some eight kilometers (5 miles) northwest of the Syrian capital, shows two recently constructed buildings which are similar to those seen at another base in Syria thought to have been used as a base for Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps troops, according to Fox News, citing information from Israel-based geospatial analysis outfit ImageSat.

The buildings were identified in the report as possible hangars housing short- and medium-range missiles. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Judge sides with Trump on challenge to Mexico border wall

Judge sides with Trump on challenge to Mexico border wall

(Worthy News) – A judge who was taunted by Donald Trump during the US presidential campaign sided with the president Tuesday on a challenge to building a border wall with Mexico, removing what could have been a major obstacle to the signature campaign pledge.

US District Judge Gonzalo Curiel rejected arguments by the state of California and advocacy groups that the administration overreached by waiving laws requiring environmental and other reviews before construction can begin. Plaintiffs in the lawsuit said a 2005 law that gave the Homeland Security secretary broad authority to waive the reviews had expired.

“Big legal win today,” Trump tweeted in response to the ruling. He didn’t mention his prior remarks about the judge. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

EU’s Brexit treaty set to reignite tensions

(Worthy News) – EU negotiator Michel Barnier will unveil a long-awaited draft Brexit divorce treaty on Wednesday (Feb 28) which threatens to trigger new arguments with Britain on key issues.

The 120-page document appears set to overlook key demands by British Prime Minister Theresa May on the Irish border, citizens rights and a post-Brexit transition period.

The treaty attempts to set down in stone a withdrawal deal that May and European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker sealed in principle after marathon talks in December. [ Source: Channel News Asia (Read More…) ]

U.S. sharpens focus on ISIS in Asia and Africa

U.S. sharpens focus on ISIS in Asia and Africa

(Worthy News) – U.S. officials expanded their targeting of the Islamic State beyond its Mideast stomping grounds Tuesday by adding three of the groups’ far-flung affiliates — in the Philippines, Bangladesh and West Africa — to the State Department’s “Specially Designated Global Terrorists” list.

The designations, which seize assets the groups may have in U.S. markets and make it a federal crime for American citizens to interact with them in any way, signaled a broadening of Washington’s focus on ISIS affiliates around the world as the group continues to lose its territory in Syria and Iraq.

“These designations target key ISIS-affiliated groups and leaders outside its fallen caliphate,” State Department Coordinator for Counterterrorism Nathan A. Sales said in a statement. “Today’s actions are a critical step in degrading ISIS’s global network and denying its affiliates the resources they need to plan and carry out terrorist attacks.” [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

Anne Graham Lotz Says Dad’s Death Is Heaven’s Wake-Up Call to the Church: ‘We’ve Lost Our Focus’

(Worthy News) – Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz, says that she believes her father’s death will serve as a “Heaven’s shot across the bow” to the Church today and stated that, in general, the failure of churches are the reason why the United States is in a spiritual “mess.”

The 69-year-old author and evangelist sat down with WRAL-TV for an interview on Monday to talk about the impact of her legendary evangelist father, who passed away last week at the age of 99.

“I believe my father’s death is Heaven’s shot across the bow. It’s time for the Church to wake up,” Lotz said. “It’s time for the world to wake up because you’re not promised tomorrow. You need to decide now where you’re going to spend eternity.” [ Source: Christian Post (Read More…) ]
