Mississippi Passes 15-Week Abortion Ban, Becomes Most Pro-life State

(Worthy News) – Mississippi has become the state with the most restrictive ban on abortion after Gov. Phil Bryant signed a 15-week abortion ban bill into law on Monday, March 19.

As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, House Bill 1510 had already passed in the state Senate in the beginning of March. It then went on to the House for approval, and lastly, to Bryant’s desk.

Bryant, a Republican, was expected to sign the bill into law. “I have repeatedly said, I want Mississippi to be the safest place in America for an unborn child,” Bryant said at the time. “House Bill 1510 will help us achieve that goal, and I encourage the House to pass it and look forward to signing it.” [ Source: Christian Headlines (Read More…) ]

Trump seeks Saudi Arabia’s help in eastern Syria

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration is trying to determine its long-term goals in eastern Syria as Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman visits the United States.

Since the visit of Saudi Gulf Affairs Minister Thamer al-Sabhan to eastern Syria in October, there have been hints that the kingdom could play a role in reconstruction efforts. Now The Washington Post has reported that US President Donald Trump asked the Saudi king in December for up to $4 billion in commitments to help rebuild eastern Syria.

The reports of the request come as the crown prince is in Washington. Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US, tweeted on Tuesday that the visit “represents a continuation of the strategic cooperation and friendship between our two countries.” [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Amid crisis, PM declares: 61-seat coalition is not an option

(Worthy News) – If Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Lieberman pulls out of the coalition, there will be no choice but to hold early elections, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Likud ministers on Sunday.

Though a 61-seat coalition in a 120 MK parliament would still constitute a majority, “61 is not an option,” Netanyahu said.

“We have major tasks ahead of us. For that to happen, all the [coalition] parties need to reach an agreement and decide that they are continuing together,” he told the ministers. “We are working to secure that because the citizens of Israel want a stable government that will complete its term.” [ Source: Israel Hayom (Read More…) ]

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly vowed to cut through the red tape.

White House, Dems restart negotiations over DACA, funding border wall

White House, Dems restart negotiations over DACA, funding border wall

(Worthy News) – The White House and congressional Democrats traded proposals over the weekend about how to fix an Obama-era program protecting hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation, Fox News has learned.

A source familiar with the talks said discussions broke down after Democrats rejected a bid by the Trump administration to extend protections for those enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program until the fall of 2020. In exchange, the White House would receive $25 billion in funding for President Trump’s long-sought wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Democrats countered with an offer to provide funding for the wall in exchange for a pathway to citizenship for all 1.8 million DACA-eligible immigrants — as opposed to the estimated 800,000 who are enrolled in the program. At that point, the source told Fox News the talks broke down. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

49% of Americans: Trump affair allegations are of ‘very little importance’ to the nation’ says poll

(Worthy News) – Eight-out-of-10 Americans have heard the news of an adult film actress who says she had an alleged sexual encounter with President Trump in 2006 — a percentage which is shared almost equally between Republicans, independents and Democrats according to a new Economist/YouGov poll released Tuesday.

If they had known this news during the 2016 election, would it have influenced their vote? Maybe not. The poll also found that 5 percent of Americans overall said that if they had known of the allegations before going to the polls, they “would have voted differently.” Four percent of Republicans, 2 percent of independents and 11 percent of Democrats agree with that.

Democratic, Republican voter bases are more different than ever, study finds

Democratic, Republican voter bases are more different than ever, study finds

(Worthy News) – Now, a new, large-scale study has documented how much the mix of voters who support each of the two parties has changed. The conclusion: The two party coalitions are now more different than at any point in the past generation.

The Democrats have changed the most, as the mix of voters who support them has grown less white, less religious, more college-educated, younger and more liberal over the past decade, according to the study by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center.

Republican voters, by contrast, more closely reflect the demographics of an earlier, mostly white, Christian America. In one regard, the party’s voters have actually stepped slightly back in time — Republicans are less likely today than a decade ago to be college graduates, Pew found. That’s a striking fact in a country that has steadily grown more college-educated.

“Republicans have not changed as the country has changed,” said Carroll Doherty, Pew’s director of political research. [ Source: AP (Read More…) ]

Supreme Court Justices Skeptical that Pro-Life Clinics Should Be Forced to Advertise Abortion

Supreme Court Justices Skeptical that Pro-Life Clinics Should Be Forced to Advertise Abortion

(Worthy News) – Should the state of California be allowed to force non-profit, often Christian, pregnancy centers to provide free advertising for abortion centers?

It’s a question before the Supreme Court, with justices hearing oral arguments in a case that pits the state of California, which offers state-funded abortions, against the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA).

Both conservative and liberal justices voiced skepticism Tuesday about the “Reproductive Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care and Transparency Act” (Reproductive FACT), a law that requires pregnancy centers to tell their clients about the availability of abortion at little or no cost.
