(Worthy News) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in an interview published Monday, recognized Israel’s right to exist and extolled the prospect of future diplomatic relations between his kingdom and the Jewish state.

In an extensive interview with The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, Prince Mohammed laid out his vision for the future of the Middle East, including the possibility of cooperation with Israel.

Asked whether he believes “the Jewish people have a right to a nation-state in at least part of their ancestral homeland,” he replied: “I believe that each people, anywhere, has a right to live in their peaceful nation. (Worthy News) – The United States has lashed out at Beijing after Chinese tariffs on $3 billion (€2.4 billion) worth of US goods entered force on Monday.

“Instead of targeting fairly traded US exports, China needs to stop its unfair trading practices which are harming US national security and distorting global markets,” White House deputy spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said.

China said on Sunday that it would start taxing 128 mostly agricultural US goods at midnight on Monday, including a 25 percent tariff rate on pork products and a new 15 percent tariff on fruits and nuts. [ Source: Deutche Welle (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – American taxpayers gave Planned Parenthood $1.3 billion over a three-year period, enough money for every abortion the company provided, including half-a-billion dollars that went to divisions later referred for investigation of their unborn-baby body-parts trade.

The American Center for Law and Justice said the U.S. Government Accountability Office report “confirms Planned Parenthood received enough federal funds to effectively pay for every abortion they performed in the U.S. from 2013–2015, and that millions in federal funds allocated to Planned Parenthood’s international affiliate, International Planned Parenthood Federation, were directly available to fund abortions abroad.”

“Additionally, federal funds may have aided in the illegal sale of fetal tissue in California.”

The ACLJ report said the GAO report “confirms what we have been saying all along: It is time to hold Planned Parenthood and its allies accountable and end their federal funding.” [ Source: WND (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – U.S. stocks had their worst April start since 1929, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The S&P 500 index slumped 2.2 percent, a rout exceeded only by its 2.5 percent decline 89 years ago, a prelude to the devastating crash later that year that brought on the Great Depression. (Back then, the index only comprised 90 stocks.)

China’s retaliatory trade tariffs combined with President Donald Trump’s criticism of Amazon.com Inc. to send equities into a tailspin Monday. Shares in the online retailer tumbled, encouraging a sell-off in consumer discretionary and technology stocks. The S&P 500 closed below its 200-day moving average — a key technical support — and volatility climbed.

The stock slide also looked pretty bad when compared to the beginning of other quarters. Equities lost more than on any other quarterly first day since October 2011, when stocks plummeted 2.8 percent, Bloomberg data show. [ Source: Bloomberg (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – New York City woke up Monday morning to its largest April snowfall since 1982, accumulating more than half a foot in some areas, meteorologists said.

Parts of the Bronx and Grammercy Park in Manhattan saw more than 6 inches of snow as of late morning Monday. The highest snowfall totals of more than 7 inches were in New York’s Nassau and Westchester counties, New Jersey’s Essex and Bergen counties, and Connecticut’s Fairfield and New Haven counties, the National Weather Service said.

The snowfall didn’t quite measure up to the accumulations seen during the region’s four nor’easter storms this winter, but the totals were unusual for the month of April. The last time New York City had this much snow in April was in 1982, when there was about 10 inches of accumulation. [ Source: UPI (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – The White House confirmed Monday that President Trump has proposed a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the White House.

But press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the White House is only one of the possible locations that Mr. Trump suggested in the phone call with Mr. Putin two weeks ago.

“As the president himself confirmed on March 20 … the two had discussed a bilateral meeting in the ‘not-too-distant future’ at a number of potential venues, including the White House,” she said. “We have nothing further to add at this time.” [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
