White House ‘frustrated’ with direction of Mueller questions

(Worthy News) – The White House on Tuesday said it’s “frustrated” with the direction of the Russia probe, claiming the leaked questions special counsel Robert Mueller reportedly prepared for President Trump prove the federal investigation has veered off its intended course.

“The overwhelming majority of those questions don’t focus on the underlying premise of this special counsel,” deputy White House press secretary Raj Shah told Fox News.

“We have been cooperating as a White House with this probe, but we are a little frustrated that the focus of it is not near what it was created to focus on, which is the collusion question,” he added. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

U.S. Breaks Record, Borrows $488 Billion in the First Quarter

(Worthy News) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he’s unconcerned about the bond market’s ability to absorb rising government debt after his department said it borrowed a record amount for the first quarter.

“It’s a very large, robust market — it’s the most liquid market in the world, and there is a lot of supply,” he said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Monday. “But I think the market can easily handle it.”

Earlier on Monday the Treasury said net borrowing totaled $488 billion from January through March, a record for that period and about $47 billion more than it had previously estimated, according to a statement released in Washington. The end-of-March cash balance was $290 billion, compared with an initial estimate of $210 billion. [ Source: Bloomberg (Read More…) ]

Satanic Temple Plans to Sue Arkansas over Ten Commandments Monument

(Worthy News) – The Satanic Temple responded swiftly to the installation of a new Ten Commandments monument on the Arkansas Capitol grounds in Little Rock.

No sooner had the monument been lowered onto the grounds by a crane on Thursday (April 26), than Lucien Greaves, the co-founder of the Satanic Temple, said his group will join a lawsuit soon to be filed by the American Civil Liberties Union alleging an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.

The Satanic Temple, which claims 100,000 members around the world, has become a vocal advocate on the issue of religious freedom. It has attempted in various provocative ways to highlight the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, which prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” [ Source: Christian Headlines (Read More…) ]

House intel concludes no collusion in 2016 campaign

(Worthy News) – There is no evidence President Trump’s campaign colluded or conspired with the Russian government during the 2016 election, but both his team and the Clinton campaign had “poor judgment and ill-considered actions,” the House intelligence committee concluded in a report Friday.

The report dings Mr. Trump’s family for making an attempt during the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer to try to get damaging information on Hillary Clinton, but says that was ultimately unsuccessful.

And the report blames the anti-Trump attitude among the GOP establishment in 2015 and 2016 with forcing the campaign to turn to less accomplished and more questionable foreign policy advisers George Papadopoulos and Carter Page — both of whom became subjects of FBI investigations over their relationship with Russian entities.

But there is no evidence of successful conspiracy or collusion, the panel concludes. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

Conservative House lawmakers draft articles of impeachment against Rosenstein

(Worthy News) – A group of conservative House lawmakers have begun drafting a resolution that calls for the impeachment of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the top Department of Justice (DOJ) official overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

The impeachment document makes a series of charges against Rosenstein, the latest sign of escalating efforts among conservatives to oust the DOJ’s No. 2 official, according to a copy of the draft obtained by The Hill.

There has been no indication, however, that Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and other House GOP leaders will act on the measure, having largely remained silent amid calls for his removal by hard-line conservatives. [ Source: The Hill (Read More…) ]

Border standoff: Caravan organizers vow to outlast U.S. government

(Worthy News) – The illegal immigrant caravan has turned into a real standoff in Mexico.

The U.S. government says it’s all full-up at the San Ysidro port of entry and can’t process the caravan participants. They’ll have to wait their turn — or give up and remain in Mexico, or head home to Central America.

Caravan organizers, though, vow to outlast the U.S. government. They say they’re stunned American officials weren’t prepared to handle them, given that the caravan has made front paged news for more than a month. But if it takes waiting in order to get in the asylum line, that’s what the caravan’s participants will do. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
