(Worthy News) – Lawmakers and religious leaders gathered together Thursday evening for the 67th National Observance of the National Day of Prayer at the US Capitol.

This year’s theme is “Pray for America: Unity,” and was led by Dr. Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

“We are living through a crucial time in our country’s history. Division rages, hate and vitriolic language are loud, ” Floyd said in a statement on the group’s website. “We’re more focused on making enemies than friends. (Worthy News) – Indian police say they have found the beheaded body of a popular Pentecostal pastor near a thick forest in the eastern state of Jharkhand.

The wife of 46-year old Abraham Topno reported him missing late Tuesday evening.

(Worthy News) – After President Donald Trump held a celebration for the National Day of Prayer in the Rose Garden, and signed an executive order setting up a new faith-based office, Vice President Mike Pence did an interview with CBN News’ David Brody – in his office.

The new executive order expands upon a religious freedom executive order signed last year. Vice President Pence says it makes sure all levels of the federal government are partnering with faith-based groups on various federal programs.

(Worthy News) – State lawmakers in Oklahoma and Kansas have approved legislation to grant legal protections to faith-based adoption agencies that cite their religious beliefs for not placing children in LGBT homes.

Supporters of such measures argued that the core issue is protecting a group’s right to live out its religious faith, while critics saw them as attacks on LGBT rights. Both Oklahoma and Kansas have GOP-controlled legislatures and governors, but in Kansas, the proposal split Republicans.

The Oklahoma House’s 56-21 vote Thursday sent its measure to Gov. Mary Fallin, who has not said whether she would sign it. It’s similar to laws in at least five other states. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration will ask Israel to withdraw from four Arab neighborhoods in east Jerusalem, which will likely become the capital of a future Palestinian state, US officials told Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman during his visit to Washington last week.

The transfer of control over the neighborhoods – Jebl Mukabar, Isawiya, Shuafat and Abu Dis – was presented to Liberman as just one piece of the larger peace plan the administration has been working on over the last year. Israel, the officials indicated, would be expected to accept the plan once it is presented despite the potentially painful concessions.

News of the demand come less than two weeks before the US Embassy officially moves to Jerusalem on May 14.

(Worthy News) – Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is moving immediately to fill vacant senior positions at the State Department, a task so large it has the feel of a “presidential transition” as opposed to a hand-off from one member of President Trump’s Cabinet to another, according to Republican foreign policy experts.

“That is true in the sense that there’s so many vacancies,” Council on Foreign Relations senior fellow Elliot Abrams told the Washington Examiner. “It’s really incredible how many vacancies there are. It’s more like starting fresh.”

Five of the nine most senior positions at Foggy Bottom are vacant; the number was six, but Pompeo already has filled the role of counselor of the department. Giuliani’s astonishing admission — that Trump “funneled” $35,000 payments to Michael Cohen through a law firm — came during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, who himself seemed stunned by what the former federal prosecutor had to say.

(Worthy News) – An Israeli satellite has reportedly found signs of renewed activity at the Fordo enrichment facility in Iran.

Fordo is one of two facilities used by the Iranians to enrich uranium, which is part of the process of constructing nuclear weapons. It is heavily shielded by a mountain.

(Worthy News) – There’s a growing risk that a war is about to break out in Syria, pitting Israel against Iran.

The Islamic Republic’s forces are entrenching there, after joining the fight to prop up President Bashar al-Assad. The Jewish state, perceiving a direct threat on its border, is subjecting them to an escalating barrage of airstrikes. Nobody expects those strikes to go unanswered.

The path to escalation is clear, and the rhetoric is apocalyptic. “We will demolish every site where we see an Iranian attempt to position itself,’’ Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman told the London-based Saudi newspaper Elaph, adding that the Iranian regime is “living its final days.’’

(Worthy News) – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) wants foreign airports to tighten screening of U.S.-bound passengers’ carry-on electronics and adopt U.S. domestic security procedures instituted last year, according to officials and a memo to foreign airports.

Amid growing concerns about the possibility of hidden explosives, TSA began stricter scrutiny of electronic devices by U.S. travelers last summer.

In July 2017, TSA began requiring domestic air travelers to remove all electronics larger than mobile phones including tablets, e-readers and video game consoles from carry-on baggage for screening.
