Wendy Stovall with the U.S. Geological Survey told reporters that the actual temperature is likely even higher.

“It’s hard to get to the center, which is the hottest portion of the fountain,” Stovall said. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Church Sued for $2.3 Million for Not Hosting LGBT Event in Building It Owns

(Worthy News) – An Oregon business has filed a complaint against a church that prohibited it from hosting an LGBT event in a building owned by the church, claiming that the fallout from that decision has harmed the company.

In 2015, Ambridge Event Center, which once rented out a space owned by Holy Rosary Church for various events, was compelled to reject an LGBT group’s request to hold an event on the property due to the church’s “morals clause.”

In a lawsuit filed last week in Multnomah County Circuit Court in Oregon, Ambridge alleged that the church’s rules against them hosting the LGBT event caused them harm. They are seeking $2.3 million in damages. [ Source: Christian Post (Read More…) ]

Senior IDF official: Israel at closest point to war since 2014

(Worthy News) – Despite relative calm returning to southern Israel after more than 100 mortars and rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, Israel is at its closest point to war since Operation Protective Edge four years ago, a senior IDF officer in the Southern Command said on Thursday.

According to the senior officer, the Iranian-funded Islamic Jihad did not show all its strength and, under the guidance of Tehran, might still be able to act against Israel from the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.

“This week, Islamic Jihad operated with Iranian consent and Iran has an interest in escalating the situation in Gaza in light of what is happening in Syria and other areas,” he told reporters. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Assad warned against hitting U.S. troops in Syria

(Worthy News) – The Pentagon is warning the Syrian regime to refrain from attacking U.S.-backed forces in the country, shortly after Syrian President Bashar Assad demanded U.S. forces depart and threatened to launch attacks on territory held by American-backed Kurdish paramilitary units in northeast Syria.

The threats come amid a scramble among several nations and factions in the Syrian civil war, as the Assad government consolidates control of the major cities but faces pressure over the postwar balance of power.

“Any interested party in Syria should understand that attacking U.S. forces or our coalition partners will be a bad policy,” Joint Staff Director Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie told reporters Thursday. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
