Chinese hackers ‘steal US navy data on undersea warfare and supersonic missiles’

(Worthy News) – China’s state hackers have reportedly stolen a large amount of highly-sensitive US navy data on its undersea warfare, including plans for supersonic anti-ship missiles on submarines.

Government experts were said to have compromised the computers of a US navy contractor, giving them access to the information, according to the Washington Post, citing unnamed American officials.

They said – on the condition of anonymity about an ongoing investigation – that the security breaches were believed to have taken place in January and February. [ Source: Sky News (Read More…) ]

Devin Nunes to DOJ: Hand over docs on alleged FBI informant by Tuesday or it’s ‘obstruction’

(Worthy News) – House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has set a Tuesday deadline for the Justice Department to provide documents related to an alleged FBI informant who spoke with members of President Trump’s 2016 campaign tied to the Russians.

In a letter sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Friday, the California Republican demanded the documents be provided to all committee members “and designated staff,” which would go beyond top members of Congress which have been invited to view material related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

“DOJ continues to obfuscate and delay its production using an array of tactics, such as incorrectly categorizing the requested documents as Gang-of-Eight-level material in order to limit access,” Nunes wrote, according to Fox News. “Such conduct by DOJ is unacceptable because the Gang-of-Eight is a legal fiction that has no basis outside of the confines of Presidential approval and reporting of covert actions.” [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Arab states call emergency UN General Assembly session on Gaza

(Worthy News) – The UN General Assembly will convene for an emergency session on Wednesday regarding Gaza, where a version of a resolution vetoed last week by the US in the Security Council condemning Israel will receive a wider vote.

The measure is being pushed by Arab powers, according to wire services, and will accuse the Jewish state of mishandling a recent spout of protests along its border and calling for protection for the Palestinian people.

“We will work next week to get the maximum number of votes,” a diplomat from a country that supported the measure told Agence France Presse on Friday. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Sculpted head of mystery biblical king found in Israel

(Worthy News) – A rare, miniature sculpture of a king’s head that dates back almost 3,000 years has prompted scholars to figure out whose face it depicts.

The mysterious 2-inch sculpture is a very rare example of figurative art from the Holy Land during the 9th century B.C. — a period associated with biblical kings. The sculpture is exquisitely preserved but for a bit of missing beard, and nothing quite like it has been found before.

While scholars are certain the stern bearded figure donning a golden crown represents royalty, they are less sure which king it symbolizes, or which kingdom he may have ruled. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Hezbollah is helping Hamas build rocket factories, training camps

(Worthy News) – Israel has complained to the UN Security Council, saying that Hamas is working with Hezbollah to establish missile factories and training camps in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese newspaper Al Joumhouria reported Saturday.

According to the report, Israel sent a letter to the UN Security Council and General Assembly that included intelligence showing the effort of the two terrorist groups to set up missile factories and training facilities for thousands of Palestinian fighters.

Israel requested that the UN intervene to stop cooperation between the two groups, charging it was a “blatant violation” of UN Security Resolution 1701, which set the terms to end the 34-day Second Lebanon War fought between Israel and Hezbollah in the summer of 2006. Hurricane Bud on track to impact Mexico and the Southwest U.S.

(Worthy News) – Hurricane Bud, now swirling off the west coast of Mexico, is forecast to strengthen into a Category-2 hurricane and impact both Mexico and the Southwest U.S. over the next few days.

While rainfall from Bud or its remnants would be beneficial to the drought-stricken Southwest, it could also cause flash floods if too much rain falls too quickly, according to AccuWeather. The worst drought in the U.S. is in the Southwest, with the most severe conditions in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado.

As of 8 p.m. ET, Bud had winds of 80 mph and was moving to the northwest at 9 mph. It was located about 235 miles from Manzanillo, Mexico, the National Hurricane Center said. A tropical storm watch has been posted for portions of Mexico’s west coast from Manzanillo to Cabo Corrientes. [ Source: USA Today (Read More…) ]

Iran’s Rouhani criticizes U.S. ‘unilateralism’ over nuclear deal

(Worthy News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticized U.S. “unliteralism” in withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and said on Sunday he appreciated efforts by China and Russia to maintain the agreement.

“The U.S. efforts to impose its policies on others are expanding as a threat to all,” Rouhani told the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a regional security grouping led by China and Russia where Iran has observer status.

“The recent example of such unilateralism and the defiance of the decisions of the international community by the U.S. government is its withdrawal from the JCPOA,” he said, referring to the nuclear agreement by its official name, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Trump calls for G-7 countries to drop all tariffs, subsidies

(Worthy News) – President Trump proposed a major shakeup of the world’s economic order during a summit in Canada this week, suggesting the world’s big economies drop all tariffs and market-distorting subsidies and go to a fully free system of trade.

He said Saturday that he’s also considering scrapping the North American Free Trade Agreement in favor of bilateral trade deals with Canada and Mexico individually.

The announcements come as Mr. Trump seeks to make headway on the deep U.S. trade deficit, saying the country has been taken advantage of for too long, and he is fighting back. He delivered that message personally during meetings with other leaders of the Group of Seven major economies, which took place in Canada on Friday and Saturday.
