U.S., Mexico vow to reunite separated migrant families quickly

(Worthy News) – The United States and Mexico on Tuesday vowed to work with Central American nations to reunite migrant families separated at the U.S. border “as quickly as possible” as the Trump administration faced fresh criticism over the practice.

More than 2,300 children were separated from their parents after U.S. President Donald Trump’s government began a “zero tolerance” policy in early May, seeking to prosecute all adults who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.

‘Brexodus’ continues as May loses two more party members

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump says he expects the UK to be in “turmoil” when he visits this week and British politicians are continuing to add to that atmosphere. On Tuesday, two Conservative party vice chairs, Ben Bradley of Mansfield and Maria Caulfield of Lewes, both resigned in protest to British Prime Minister Theresa May’s so-called Chequers Brexit compromise.

The resignations come on the heels of Brexit Secretary David Davis and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s resignations over May’s plan on Sunday and Monday respectively. Although Tuesday’s departures came from lesser-known politicians, observers say those opposing May’s Brexit compromise are trying to force her into another change of tack.

Both departing politicians claimed they would lose their seats in elections should the party not deliver on Brexit. In her letter of resignation, Caulfield, the Tories’ vice chair for women, told May her compromise would be “bad for our country and bad for the party. The direct consequences of that will be Prime Minister Corbyn,” a reference to opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. [ Source: Deutsche Welle (Read More…) ]

Tensions soar as Syrian fight nears Israeli border — with possible Iranian military presence

(Worthy News) – It was yet another sign that the Syrian civil war, with a possible Iranian military presence, has arrived on Israel’s doorstep.

A group of Syrians on Tuesday approached the Israeli fence along the Golan. They demanded that the border be opened and brandished a sign reading, “Israel should stop the barbaric attacks against us now.”

An increasingly effective offensive by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, backed by Russian air power and Iranian-supported militias, has driven long-entrenched rebel groups from southern Syria since mid-June, profoundly changing the dynamic of the 7-year-old civil war.
