Stunning findings on report of Catholic Church abuse: Pa. priests molested more than 1,000 children

(Worthy News) – Robert Mizic, 47, said his life was taken away as an altar boy 35 years ago, when he was abused by his parish priest at a Catholic Church in suburban Philadelphia.

He is one of the many accusers in a sweeping scandal encircling the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania.

Hundreds of priests were said to have molested more than 1,000 children — and possibly many more — since the 1940s, and senior church officials, including a man who is now the archbishop of Washington, D.C., allegedly covered up the abuse, according to a grand jury report released Tuesday. Egypt summons Palestinian groups for Israeli truce, unity talks

(Worthy News) – Representatives of various Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip headed to Cairo on Tuesday for talks with Egyptian intelligence officials on the possibility of reaching a truce agreement with Israel, and ending the Hamas-Fatah power struggle.

The visit coincides with unconfirmed reports in the Arab media that the Palestinian factions and Israel are close to reaching a long-term cease-fire agreement under the auspices of Egypt and the United Nations.

The faction representatives were invited by the Egyptian authorities in the context of Cairo’s continued effort to avoid a military confrontation between Hamas and Israel, and persuade Hamas and Fatah to agree to the formation of a unity government. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Israel-Hamas cease-fire deal ‘virtually done,’ paper reports

(Worthy News) – After a two-day lull in violence along the Gaza Strip-Israel border, the Los Angeles Times quoted a senior Israeli official Monday as saying that a cease-fire agreement with Hamas, the Islamist organization that rules Gaza, is “virtually done.”

Following a spike in border violence last week, when Gaza terrorists fired some 180 projectiles at Israeli communities and Israeli airstrikes bombed dozens of Hamas terror targets in Gaza, Israel’s Defense Ministry said Monday that two days of “complete calm” on the border have led to possible easing of the closure of the Kerem Shalom commercial border crossing.

On Tuesday, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon confirmed a Channel 10 news report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi in Egypt in May to discuss a long-term cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. [ Source: Israel Hayom (Read More…) ]

Hezbollah chief claims terror group stronger than IDF, ready for war

(Worthy News) – The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement said Tuesday that US sanctions against Iran and his Iran-backed group will not have major effects on them and will not lead to regime change in Tehran.

In a televised address marking the 12th anniversary of the end of the 34-day Second Lebanon War with Israel in 2006, Hassan Nasrallah also boasted that his forces were stronger than the Israeli army and prepared for a fresh war with Israel.

Nasrallah claimed that the Trump administration was “mistaken” in thinking sanctions would lead to riots in Iran that would topple the regime, or even force Iran to reduce support for activity abroad. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]
