Democrats Set to Launch 52 Trump Investigations if They Win the Midterms

(Worthy News) – House Democrats intend to unleash an avalanche of hearings, subpoenas, and investigations on the Trump Administration if they take control of the House in the November elections.

Some of the investigations will pursue corruption allegations against the President and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and whether they profited from White House policy. There will also be fresh investigations into so-called ‘Russian collusion’ by the Trump campaign, and the administration’s opposition to Obamacare and restrictions on immigration.

Republicans have already denied more than 50 subpoena attempts by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee since President Trump took office. But Democrats intend to make good on those subpoena requests if they are in charge.

“If Democrats win the majority in November, we would finally do what Republicans have refused to do, and that is, conduct independent, fact-based, and credible investigations of the Trump Administration to address issues like the security clearance process, conflicts of interest, the numerous attempts by Republicans to strip away health care from millions of Americans, postal service reforms, prescription drug pricing, and voting rights,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (MD), the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said in a statement. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Democrats inject chaos into Brett Kavanaugh hearing with delay demands

(Worthy News) – Senate Democrats repeatedly interrupted the opening of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination hearing Tuesday morning in a failed bid to delay proceedings.

Democrats cited the release of approximately 42,000 pages of documents Monday evening from Kavanaugh’s work in the George W. Bush White House, and a further 100,000 pages that have not been produced because the White House asserted executive privilege.

Before Monday, 415,000 pages from Kavanaugh’s White House service were produced to the Senate Judiciary Committee. The D.C. Circuit Court judge worked in the Bush White House Counsel office from 2001 to 2003, and then as staff secretary from 2003 to 2006. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Pompeo to toe hard line in Pakistan; no plan to resume halted U.S. aid

(Worthy News) – U.S. officials say Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will toe a hard line with Pakistan’s new government when he visits Islamabad this week, roughly nine months after President Trump halted security aid to the South Asian nation on grounds it gives “safe haven to terrorists.”

Mr. Pompeo and Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are slated Wednesday to hold the first high-level meetings with the newly-elected government of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan before heading Thursday to India, where they’ll be joined by Defense Secretary James Mattis for meetings with Indian leaders.

Analysts say the Pakistan visit presents a chance for Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Dunford to hammer home the message that Mr. Trump has no intention of softening his stance on security assistance for Islamabad. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
