Hindu Extremists Suspected in False Charges against Pastor in India, Sources Say

(Worthy News) – A pastor could face life in prison after police in eastern India falsely charged him with leading a tribal rebel movement, sources said.

Christian leaders in Khunti District, Jharkhand state suspect Hindu extremists are behind the sudden, baseless accusations against pastor Jidan Herenz in March, when he was charged with sedition for allegedly leading the rebellious pathalgadi, a movement by tribal Adivasis to fight for indigenous rights.

After police in Murhu village, Khunti District booked him under 13 sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), accusing him of convening unlawful assemblies, altering the appearance of Indian currency (coin), criminal conspiracy and sedition, Pastor Herenz and his family fled deep into district forests. He has since planted a church among remote tribal people there. [ Source: Morningstar News (Read More…) ]

Capitol Hill probes on Trump, elections may factor in November vote

(Worthy News) – Congress returns this week from its August recess and while the House Intelligence Committee has wrapped up its probe, lawmakers still face big questions regarding the Russian-meddling scandal, threats to the U.S. electoral system, the uses and abuses of social media sites and fresh clashes between the White House and the Department of Justice.

With multiple Senate committee probes and the wider investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller still churning, revelations and events in the coming weeks could have an outsized impact on the GOP’s ability to maintain control of Congress in November’s midterm elections, political analysts say.

Investigators continued to interview key figures during summer recess, including senior Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele over their contacts concerning the controversial dossier Mr. Steele compiled about President Trump’s alleged ties to Russia in the summer of 2016. Iran’s secret weapons-smuggling air routes to Lebanon revealed by intel sources

(Worthy News) – An Iranian civil aviation company is suspected of smuggling arms into Lebanon, destined for the militant group Hezbollah and Iranian weapons factories — and western intelligence sources said Monday they’ve uncovered the unexpected routes that Iran apparently took to try avoiding detection.

The sources identified two rare and unusual Qeshm Fars Air flights from Tehran to the international airport in Beirut during the past two months.

According to flight data obtained by Fox News, the route passed over northern Lebanon, not following any commonly used flight path. A regional intelligence source who asked to remain anonymous said: “The Iranians are trying to come up with new ways and routes to smuggle weapons from Iran to its allies in the Middle East, testing and defying the West’s abilities to track them down.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Suspect in Amsterdam stabbing of Americans believes Dutch insult Islam, prosecutors say

(Worthy News) – Dutch prosecutors on Monday announced that the 19-year-old Afghan citizen accused of stabbing two American tourists may have done so because he believes Islam is insulted in the Netherlands.

The announcement came after officials said there was a “terrorist motive” behind the attack.

The suspect, identified only as Jawed S., allegedly stabbed the two Americans at Amsterdam’s Central Station just after noon on Friday. His reasoning for targeting the victims was not based on their nationality, prosecutors said. Rather, the suspect’s grievance was with the European country where the assault took place, they said in a written statement. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Israel signals it could attack Iranian weaponry in Iraq

(Worthy News) – Israel signaled on Monday that it could attack suspected Iranian military assets in Iraq, as it has done with scores of air strikes in war-torn Syria.

Citing Iranian, Iraqi and Western sources, Reuters reported last week that Iran had transferred short-range ballistic missiles to Shi’ite allies in Iraq in recent months. Tehran and Baghdad formally denied that report.

Israel sees in Iran’s regional expansion an attempt to open up new fronts against it. Israel has repeatedly launched attacks in Syria to prevent any entrenchment of Iranian forces helping Damascus in the war. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Netanyahu: Closer ties to Arab world are the silver lining of ‘bad’ Iran deal

(Worthy News) – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that closer ties between Israel and the Arab world were a silver lining of the otherwise “bad” Iran nuclear deal.

The 2015 pact was a “bad agreement in every respect except for one – it brought us closer to the Arab world on a scale that we never knew, and one of our goals is that it continues,” he said.

“Another important thing is, of course, the fact that there is a gradual normalization with leading countries in the Arab world,” Netanyahu added. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]
