(Worthy News) – In a Brazilian presidential election marked by uncertainties, there is little doubt about one thing: Evangelical voters will have a major impact.

They could tip the balance thanks to their growing numbers, presence in remote areas and poor neighborhoods and organizational muscle, especially since corporations have been banned from making contributions directly to candidates in the wake of a the country’s huge corruption scandal.

Attempts to woo evangelicals are apparent on the campaign trail ahead of the Oct. 7 election. In recent weeks, one leading candidate wept while receiving prayers during a service at an evangelical church. Another promised no legislative changes to Brazil’s abortion ban. (Worthy News) – Did you know members of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet meet weekly for a Bible study? CBN News was the first to report on it and according to one regular attendee, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, the group is still going strong.

“There are a number of men and women on the Cabinet who have a Bible study every Wednesday morning,” Perry told CBN’s Jenna Browder. “Number one, it gives us an opportunity to see each other outside of our normal work environment, but it’s also sending a message that this administration bases its life experiences on that, biblical values.”

In addition to Perry, other attendees include Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is also part of the group. Vice President Mike Pence is a sponsor and Capitol Ministries’ Ralph Drollinger, who leads the Bible study, tells CBN News Trump also gets a copy of the weekly teaching. (Worthy News) – A reconstructed Arch of Palmyra, the original of which was the entrance to a temple for Baal in Syria, will reappear in Washington, D.C., as an “improbable” “symbol of peace and resilience,” according to Breaking Israel News.

The original in the Middle East was destroyed by ISIS in October 2015, but it was re-created by the Institute for Digital Archaeology using 3-D printing technology.

The replica of a Roman triumphal arch originally built in Palmyra, Syria, essentially has been on a world tour.

(Worthy News) – Israel struck in Syria on Saturday night, targeting an area near the airport in Damascus, Syrian state media reported. According to the report, several Israeli missiles were intercepted by Syrian air defenses.

Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the missile attack targeted an arms depot near the airport where new weapons recently arrived for the Iranians or Lebanon’s Hezbollah group.

“Israel is constantly working to prevent our enemies from arming themselves with advanced weaponry,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday amid reports of the strike. [ Source: Ha’aretz (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – The world’s strongest storm this year, Typhoon Mangkhut, continued its path of destruction across Southeast Asia over the weekend, reaching mainland China on Sunday afternoon after pummeling Hong Kong and killing dozens in the Philippines.

The storm has carved a deadly trail across the region, killing two people in southern China and at least 54 people in the Philippines. Many of the Philippines’ deaths were caused by landslides, with dozens more still believed to be buried beneath the deluge, government officials said at a news conference Sunday.

More than 2.45 million people have been evacuated in China’s Guangdong province as Mangkhut made landfall at 5 p.m. local time, according to Chinese state media. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – The US has decided to freeze all bank accounts belonging to the (Palestine Liberation Organization) PLO in the country as the White House ramps up pressure on the Palestinians to enter into peace talks with Israel, according to a report in Al Jazeera on Sunday evening.

The Palestinian envoy to the US Husam Zomlot also said on Sunday that his permit to stay in the US has been annulled, his families’ bank accounts have been closed and that he and his family have been requested by authorities to immediately leave the country.
