Why Implanted Microchips in Humans Are About to Go Big

(Worthy News) – Experts admit that, so far, getting humans to adopt microchip implants has been a tough sell. Many Christians reject them because of concern they could be a prelude to “the mark of the Beast” which Revelation chapter 13 says will be “a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads.”

But the marketing “tipping point” for implantable chips, writes The Atlantic, will come “when they become so useful they’re hard to refuse; when their benefits outweigh our anxieties about them. It could happen sooner than you think.”

Right now, thousands of people in countries like Germany and Sweden have already opted to get chipped for easier financial transactions. Sven Becker, head of “I am Robot,” tells Euronews that 2,000 to 3,500 people in Germany have implanted a microchip under their skin “as a substitute for key cards to the gym, office, and house.” [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Faith-Based Adoption Agencies Are Under Siege in the US

(Worthy News) – United States Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke is under fire for criticizing a law that allows faith-based adoption agencies to turn away same-sex couples.

He told a crowd at a rally in Austin, Texas there are “30,000 kids in the foster care system —a foster care system so under-resourced that recently kids were sleeping on top of or underneath the desks in CPS (Child Protective Services) offices—in this state, they say that under the guise of religious liberty that you can be too gay to adopt one of those children who needs a loving home.”

O’Rourke was referring to a 2017 law called House Bill 3859. The law prohibits religious agencies from being “required to provide any service that conflicts with the provider’s sincerely held religious beliefs.” [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Oregon Dismisses Criminal Charges Against Judge Who Says He Was Targeted for Christian Beliefs

(Worthy News) – The state of Oregon is dropping criminal felony firearms charges against suspended Marion County Judge Vance Day because a key witness refused to testify at his trial.

The Statesman Journal reports jury selection was underway in Day’s trial. Opening statements were scheduled for Wednesday. The witness, who refused to appear, was not identified in the court order.

Since the statute of limitations has expired on the charges, prosecutors cannot attempt to refile. The judge dismissed the case without prejudice.

Day told CBN News in an interview last April that the charges were punishment for his Biblical views on marriage. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

PA, Hamas routinely use torture to crush dissent, human rights report finds

(Worthy News) – Security forces of the rival Palestinian governments in both the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Authority routinely use torture and arbitrary arrests, among other tactics, to quash dissent by peaceful activists and political rivals, a Human Rights Watch investigation has found.

The charges come in a report issued Tuesday by the New York-based watchdog following a two-year investigation that included interviews with nearly 150 people, many of them former detainees.

In the report, the group accused both the Western-backed Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and militant Islamist Hamas in Gaza of using “machineries of repression” to stifle criticism. [ Source: Israel Hayom (Read More…) ]

France to US: Release your peace plan or we’ll release ours

(Worthy News) – France denied Israeli media reports that it warned the US it would promote its own peace plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict if US President Donald Trump fails to publish his plan soon. French allegedly pressured Trump to release his plan within a number of weeks after the American midterm elections on November 6.

News of the French ultimatum was published on both Channels 10 and 2. It was based on closed door testimony by Foreign Ministry Political Director Alon Ushpiz to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

In its report, Channel 10 said it had spoken with two Knesset members and Chanel 2 said it had quizzed four Knesset members about the story before publishing it. Their reports were fairly identical in regard to the issue of the peace plan. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

UN humanitarian chief says danger of ‘big famine’ in Yemen

(Worthy News) – The U.N. humanitarian chief warned Tuesday that “there is a clear and present danger of an imminent and great big famine engulfing Yemen.”

Mark Lowcock told the Security Council that this famine would be “much bigger than anything any professional in this field has seen during their working lives.”

He said “the situation is now much graver” than when he warned of famine in Yemen at the beginning of 2017 and again last November. That is because “of the sheer number of people at risk,” he said. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

Illegal immigrant families set record in 2018; top 100,000 for first time

(Worthy News) – Illegal immigration by families surged this summer after the collapse of President Trump’s zero-tolerance border policy, reaching record levels and leaving the Trump administration frustrated over the lack of easy solutions.

More than 16,600 illegal immigrant parents and children traveling together were nabbed by the Border Patrol in September, marking the worst month on record and nearly twice the numbers from before the administration tried — and then backed off — zero tolerance.

That helped fuel a surge for the entire fiscal year, with agents catching more than 107,000 family members over 12 months, a 38 percent increase over 2017, and eclipsing the previous record set under President Obama in 2016. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

EU rejects Italian draft budget, setting up standoff with defiant Italy

(Worthy News) – The European Commission rejected Italy’s draft 2019 budget on Tuesday, saying it brazenly broke EU rules on public spending, and asked Rome to submit a new one within three weeks or face disciplinary action.

Italian bond yields jumped on the unprecedented move by the EU executive which was exerting for the first time a power obtained in 2013 after a sovereign debt crisis to send back a budget of a euro zone country that violates the rulebook.

Having recently emerged from the Greek debt debacle that nearly destroyed the single currency, the EU is concerned about another possible crisis if debt-laden Italy were to lose market trust. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Trump said to question Netanyahu commitment to peace, threaten to get ‘tough’

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump has said he is willing to “be tough” on Israel in peace negotiations, mirroring the administration’s combative stance toward the Palestinian Authority, according to an Israeli report Monday.

Such a move would mark a significant shift in the US approach to peace talks so far, which has seen a number of concessions to Israel and punitive measures against Ramallah, stoking Palestinian anger and a boycott of efforts to jump start peace talks.

According to a Channel 10 news report, which cited four Western diplomats with knowledge of the matter, Trump told French President Emmanuel Macron, during a recent meeting, that he was prepared to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept the administration’s long-gestating peace initiative, once it is unveiled, mirroring pressure already leveled against the Palestinians.
