Incoming Dems Unveil Agenda for House Takeover, and It’s Quite a Hit List

(Worthy News) – Democrats are wasting no time announcing their priorities when they take over the House of Representatives come January.

Number one on their agenda is challenging acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker, who’s been in the headlines ever since President Donald Trump tapped him to temporarily replace the ousted Jeff Sessions.

Democrats say Whitaker should recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe – especially in light of his past comments about the investigation.

In addition, Democrats are also planning to take a closer look at the president’s dealings with the media – specifically, his alleged targeting of CNN and The Washington Post, news organizations notorious for their consistently negative coverage of the Trump administration. US signals impatience with Saudi-led war in Yemen by ending aerial refueling support

(Worthy News) – The U.S. is pulling back some support for Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen, as it presses for a ceasefire and peace talks by the end of the month. In statement, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis portrayed the decision to stop U.S. refueling of Saudi warplanes attacking Houthi rebels in Yemen as a Saudi initiative.

“We support the decision by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after consultations with the U.S. Government, to use the Coalition’s own military capabilities to conduct inflight refueling in support of its operations in Yemen,” Mattis said.

“The U.S. and the [Saudi-led] Coalition are planning to collaborate on building up legitimate Yemeni forces to defend the Yemeni people, secure their country’s borders, and contribute to counter Al Qaeda and ISIS efforts in Yemen and the region.” [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

IDF says it hit 70 targets in response to Gaza attacks, including 3 tunnels

(Worthy News) – The Israeli military threatened Hamas on Monday evening, in response to a barrage of more than 300 rockets and mortar shells fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip in the preceding hours, saying the terror group would “feel the power of the IDF’s response in the coming hours.”

The army said it bombed some 70 targets linked to the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups throughout the Gaza Strip, including three attack tunnels, in retaliation for the massive fusillade.

“The Hamas terror group is responsible for everything that occurs in and emanates from the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences of the terrorist activities conducted against Israeli citizens,” the military said in a statement.

IDF gears up for more Gaza fighting in response to largest-ever barrage

(Worthy News) – The Israeli military deployed additional troops and tanks to the Gaza Strip border on Monday following the largest barrage of rockets and mortar shells fired at Israel from the coastal enclave in a single day.

The army was reportedly given a green light from policymakers to pummel terror groups in the Strip if they continued with the barrages, as the terror organizations in the Strip vowed to do.

“The resistance factions’ joint command center is holding a serious conversation about expanding its range of fire. Ashkelon is just the beginning. Approximately one million Zionists will be within the range of our missiles if the Zionist enemy’s decision is to continue its aggression,” said Abu Obeida, a spokesperson for Hamas’s military wing. Democrat Abrams files new suit in Georgia governor’s race

(Worthy News) – Stacey Abrams’ Democratic campaign filed a federal lawsuit Sunday asking a judge to delay vote certifications in Georgia unsettled governor’s race by one day and to make officials count any votes that were wrongly rejected.

If successful, the suit would prevent officials from certifying county vote totals until Wednesday and could restore at least 1,095 votes that weren’t counted. The campaign said thousands more ballots could be affected.

Republican Brian Kemp’s campaign didn’t have any immediate comment on the lawsuit, filed over alleged problems in populous Gwinnett and DeKalb counties in metro Atlanta. But Kemp aides previously said Abrams has no path to victory and called her refusal to concede a “disgrace to democracy.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Arizona Senate vote count settlement reached; counties given extension to cure ballots

(Worthy News) – Republicans and Democrats in Arizona reached an agreement in court Friday that gives all counties in the state until this coming Wednesday to address problems with ballots, as vote tallying for the state’s tight Senate race continues.

As of 8:15 p.m. ET Friday, Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema led Republican candidate Martha McSally by roughly 20,000 votes statewide, according to the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office. Sinema has received 991,189 votes and McSally 970,986, the office said.

As the ballot count continued, Sinema for Arizona campaign manager Andrew Piatt issued a statement saying: “Once again, today’s data confirmed our expectation that as the ballots are counted, Kyrsten will steadily build her advantage and be elected to the U.S. Senate. Nine counties reported today – five of which are counties where McSally is favored and where she needed to perform very well in order to regain even a narrow path to victory. That didn’t happen and since election night, Kyrsten netted 38,258 votes and now is leading by 20,203 votes – or 1 percent. She will win this race.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]
