(Worthy News) – World leaders meeting for Asia-Pacific trade talks in Papua New Guinea wrapped up a divisive, two-day summit Sunday after failing to agree on a group statement amid a widening rift in U.S.-China relations.

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said he will release a “chairman’s statement” in the next few days on behalf of the 21-nation gathering. O’Neill acknowledged that “the entire world is worried” about tensions between the two superpowers.

Grim search for 1,276 missing after deadliest California wildfire

(Worthy News) – Authorities on Sunday sifted through the charred wreckage of California’s deadliest ever wildfire, searching for any signs of the 1,276 people now listed as missing after the Camp Fire tore through the mountain town of Paradise.

The remains of 77 people have been recovered, officials said late on Sunday. The blaze ignited on Nov. 8 was 65 percent contained, up from 60 percent earlier in the day.

Rain is forecast for the area this week, potentially helping douse the flames, but raising the risk of floods and mudslides that will swell the misery of 46,000 people under evacuation orders. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Getting rid of me risks delaying Brexit – May

(Worthy News) – British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Sunday toppling her would risk delaying Brexit and she would not let talk of a leadership challenge distract her from a critical week of negotiations with Brussels.

In the days since she unveiled a draft EU divorce deal, May’s premiership has been thrust into crisis. Several ministers, including her Brexit minister, have resigned and some of her lawmakers are seeking to oust her.

More than two years after the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU, it is still unclear how, on what terms or even if it will leave as planned on March 29, 2019. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Rick Scott says Bill Nelson has ‘graciously conceded’

(Worthy News) – Florida’s Republican Gov. Rick Scott says incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson called him to concede defeat in their extremely tight race.

Netanyahu said worried Trump peace plan could hurt Likud in elections

(Worthy News) – With the Trump administration’s plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace expected to be rolled out in the coming months, there is growing concern in the Prime Minister’s Office that its release could hurt the ruling Likud party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming national elections, Israeli TV reported Saturday.

According to Hadashot news, the White House is pushing to release its plan possibly as early as the start of December despite the growing possibility in Israel of the government’s collapse and the scheduling of early elections.

The TV report, which quoted unnamed Israeli officials, said the US plan has been finalized and President Donald Trump’s peace team is currently hashing out the final details on how it will be presented.
