Witnesses describe ‘miracle’ as Gaza missile barely misses Sderot students

(Worthy News) – Most students had already left for the weekend, but several people at a religious school in Sderot had stuck around Thursday night. Three of them were just sitting down to study Biblical psalms when a rocket alarm rang out just before 9 p.m.

Seconds later, a missile slammed into a wall just steps away, sending concrete and glass flying but leaving them unharmed.

Eyewitnesses said that had the rocket hit a few minutes earlier, when the main study hall was filled with students, or a few meters from where it did, it could have been a very different story. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

The Pentagon is battling the clock to fix serious, unreported F-35 problems

(Worthy News) – Over the past several years, U.S. Defense Department leaders have gone from citing technical problems as their biggest concern for the F-35 program to bemoaning the expense of buying and sustaining the aircraft.

But the reality may be worse. According to documents exclusively obtained by Defense News, the F-35 continues to be marred by flaws and glitches that, if left unfixed, could create risks to pilot safety and call into question the fighter jet’s ability to accomplish key parts of its mission:

F-35B and F-35C pilots, compelled to observe limitations on airspeed to avoid damage to the F-35’s airframe or stealth coating. Cockpit pressure spikes that cause “excruciating” ear and sinus pain. Issues with the helmet-mounted display and night vision camera that contribute to the difficulty of landing the F-35C on an aircraft carrier. [ Source: Defense News (Read More…) ]

Trump announces surprise exit of spokeswoman Sarah Sanders

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the surprise departure of his spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, after a combative tenure that saw her all-but-kill off traditional White House briefings to journalists.

Sanders has been one of Trump’s most loyal foot soldiers, almost constantly at his side during his tumultuous two and a half years at the White House and during the campaign before.

Islamic Radical Ideology Sweeps Across Burkina Faso, Targeting Christians

(Worthy News) – The entire Christian population of a town in Burkina Faso was forced to flee following two attacks by radicals as the shadow of Islamism creeps across the Western African nation.

Nineteen people were killed in Arbinda and 10 more in the adjacent town of Namentenga on Sunday, June 19th, leaving Christians without their homes and the necessity of coming to grips with an increasing frequency of targeted attacks in recent months.

“This is the biggest shock of our lives as Christians. Never in our wildest imagination did we think this would happen and that today we would be left at the mercy of other believers in safer areas,” Pastor Daniel Sawadogo told Open Doors USA.

The former French colony’s foreign minister has called the rise of Islamic State ideology in his country and its neighbors a fight “for the very survival” of the African Sahel region, which borders the Sahara desert to the North and the Sudanese Savanah to the South, and encompasses Chad, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Mauritania.

Burkina Faso, which means “land of incorruptible people,” has been riven with intermittent military coups and periods of stability that finally culminated in a power vacuum created by the ouster of longtime President Blaise Compaore in 2014.

As a harbinger of things to come, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) carried out a terrorist strike on a luxury hotel in Ouagadougou, the country’s capital, in January 2016 that killed 30 people.

“Pain may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. We are suffering today, but our hearts are strong in the Lord. He will come to our rescue in due course,” Pastor Phillipe Bamogo told Open Doors USA.
