House votes to block Trump’s transgender troop ban

(Worthy News) – The House voted Tuesday to block the Pentagon’s new transgender troop policy, taking a swipe at President Donald Trump’s move to ban transgender service in the military.

During debate on a $1 trillion spending package, lawmakers voted 243-183 to adopt an amendment from Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) to block funding to implement the new policy, which Democrats slammed as discriminatory and arbitrary.

“The president and his administration wrongfully argue that it’s about military readiness and unit cohesion, but these arguments are the same ones that were made to keep the military racially segregated,” said Rep. Anthony Brown (D-Md.). [ Source: Politico (Read More…) ]

Trump launches re-election bid before jam-packed arena, vows to ‘Keep America Great’

(Worthy News) – President Trump formally launched his 2020 re-election campaign Tuesday night before a jam-packed crowd in Orlando’s Amway Center arena, and quickly unloaded on the media organizations and government actors he said tried their hardest with “everything they had” to bring down both his candidacy and presidency.

To chants of “USA,” Trump took the stage after brief remarks by Vice President Mike Pence and first lady Melania Trump, and recalled his unlikely rise to power.

“We stared down the unholy alliance of lobbyists and donors and special interests who made a living bleeding our country dry,” Trump said. “The swamp is fighting back so viciously and violently. For the last two and a half years, we have been under siege.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Greenblatt: Israel should hold off on annexation until peace plan unveiled

(Worthy News) – US Special Envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt said Tuesday that Israel should not move ahead with possible plans to annex parts of the West Bank, at least before the Trump administration’s peace plan comes out.

“I don’t think anyone should make unilateral moves until we at least reveal the plan. I don’t think that’s helpful to anybody,” he told Channel 12 news.

Greenblatt confirmed to the news channel that Israeli officials will not be present at the Bahrain economic workshop, where the US is set to lay out an economic component of its plan. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Pompeo: US forces in Persian Gulf just a deterrent

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration is not seeking conflict with Iran and its military buildup in the Persian Gulf is aimed entirely at deterring Iranian aggression and threats to US interests and international shipping, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tuesday.

On a visit to US Central Command in Florida just before the defense establishment was jolted by the sudden departure of the acting Pentagon chief, Pompeo said he is confident the American military is acting to confront any challenge. It is prepared and ready, he said, to respond to any attack by Iran on US interests or Iranian disruption of international shipping lanes through which much of the world’s oil supplies flow.

A day after the Defense Department announced the deployment of an additional 1,000 troops to the region, Pompeo stressed that US President Donald Trump doesn’t want war and only wants to re-establish a deterrent to Iranian threats. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

CA Lawmakers Trying to Force Pastors to Embrace Pro-LGBT Ideology

(Worthy News) – California Assemblyman Evan Low and three dozen other lawmakers are pushing a resolution in the state Assembly Judiciary Committee that’s aimed at telling religious leaders in California what they should preach from their pulpits.

The California Family Council reports that Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99 (ACR 99) calls on “counselors, pastors, religious workers, educators” and institutions with “great moral influence” to stop perpetuating the idea that something is wrong with LGBT identities or sexual behavior. ACR 99 also condemns attempts to change unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as “unethical,” “harmful,” and leading to high rates of suicide.

Two formerly gay individuals, Pastors Ken Williams and Elizabeth Woning, argue against the resolution, calling it “discriminatory” against people like themselves, who overcame suicidal thoughts by following their faith away from their LGBT identities. They now lead a ministry called Equipped to Love that helps others like them to find health and wholeness. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

For First Time, Israeli F-35s Take Part in Drill Simulating Multi-Front War

(Worthy News) – For the first time, Israel’s advance F-35 fighter aircraft — called the “Adir” — participated in a combat simulation, Ynet reported on Tuesday.

The exercise is focused on defending against a multi-pronged attack consisting of thousands of missiles and rockets. The goal is to prepare the IAF to face advanced anti-aircraft threats, including the S-300 and S-400 systems, even though Israel’s enemies — including Hezbollah and the Assad regime in Syria – either do not have these systems or have not yet fully activated them.

The drill, which started Sunday and was slated to conclude Wednesday, involves the whole Israeli Air Force (IAF), including fighter planes, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). [ Source: Algemeiner (Read More…) ]
