Archaeologist Says a Stone Pillar in the City of David is Where Abraham Met Melchizedek

(Worthy News) – An Israeli archaeologist has uncovered the remains of an altar believed to be from around the time when Abraham met the high priest Melchizedek in Jerusalem.

Archaeologist Eli Shukron has spent much of his life looking for Bible history in the City of David. Shukron gave CBN News an exclusive look at what he feels is one of his most important discoveries kept under lock and key that dates back 4000 years – a stone pillar.

Shukron says the pillar, found in the City of David, is just like the one described in Genesis 28 when Jacob had a dream in Bethel of a ladder reaching up to Heaven. After the dream, Jacob said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven! Then Jacob rose early in the morning and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.” [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Trump, Netanyahu discuss Iran threat, sanctions in phone call

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Iran on Wednesday, the White House said, the same day the U.S. president threatened to ‘substantially’ increase sanctions on Tehran to curb its nuclear activities.

Iran recently started enriching uranium beyond a limit established in a 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, a deal from which Trump withdrew. Trump has since intensified economic sanctions on Tehran, and tensions have escalated.

“The two leaders discussed cooperation between the United States and Israel in advancing shared national security interests, including efforts to prevent Iran’s malign actions in the region,” White House Spokesman Judd Deere said on Thursday. [ Source: Ynet News (Read More…) ]

U.S. Budget Gap Widens to $747 Billion in 9 Months Through June

(Worthy News) – The U.S. budget deficit widened by 23% to $747.1 billion in the first nine months of the fiscal year, as rising spending eclipsed a small bump in revenue from the Trump administration’s tariffs.

Federal expenditures increased to $3.36 trillion in the period from October to June, up 6.6% from a year earlier, the Treasury Department said on Thursday. Revenue rose by 2.7% to $2.61 trillion.

Collections from customs almost doubled to $50.5 billion from a year earlier. President Donald Trump’s administration last year imposed tariffs on everything from Chinese goods to steel and aluminum imports. Still, custom duties comprise only a small share of total receipts. Europe’s Reported Syphilis Cases Increase 70% Since 2010

(Worthy News) – Syphilis cases have soared in Europe over the last decade and become, for the first time since the early 2000s, more common in some countries than new cases of HIV, health experts said Friday.

Reported cases of the sexually transmitted disease are up by 70% since 2010, a report from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) showed, with the rise driven by more unprotected sex and riskier sexual behavior among gay men.

“The increases in syphilis infections that we see across Europe … are a result of several factors, such as people having sex without condoms and multiple sexual partners, combined with a reduced fear of acquiring HIV,” said Andrew Amato-Gauci, an ECDC expert on sexually transmitted infections. (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he is not planning to add the citizenship question to the 2020 Census.

Instead, he is issuing an executive order directing federal agencies to provide the Commerce Department with any relevant information about the number of U.S. citizens and non-citizens in America.

“Today I’m here to say we are not backing down on our effort to determine the citizenship status of the United States population. I stand before you to outline new steps my administration is taking to ensure that citizenship is counted so that we know how many citizens we have in the United States,” the president said in a White House Rose Garden press conference. President Trump Can’t Block Critics on Twitter, Says Court

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump can’t ban critics from his Twitter account, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday, saying the First Amendment calls for more speech, rather than less, on matters of public concern.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan upheld a lower court judge who said Trump violates the Constitution when he blocks critics.

“The irony in all of this is that we write at a time in the history of this nation when the conduct of our government and its officials is subject to wide-open, robust debate,” Circuit Judge Barrington D. Parker wrote on behalf of a three-judge panel. [ Source: Time (Read More…) ]

Mossad led IAEA to radioactive material at Iran site, proving it broke deal

(Worthy News) – The IAEA has found signs of radioactive material which would violate the 2015 nuclear deal at an Iranian nuclear site identified to the agency by Israeli intelligence, Channel 13 reported late Thursday.

According to Channel 13, top Israeli sources revealed to it that the IAEA is sitting on the information and has avoided making it public to date.

If the IAEA found evidence of a violation, some believed the whole game could change, with the US gaining a huge advantage to get global pressure for Iran to make more concessions on the nuclear issue. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Netanyahu: No uprooting of settlements in any peace plan

(Worthy News) – Israel has no intention of evacuating any of the West Bank settlements in any peace plan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday night during a celebratory event marking the 40th anniversary of the Samaria Regional Council.

“I will not allow the uprooting of any settlement in Israel in any diplomatic [peace] plan. We simply won’t uproot communities: not of Jews and not of Arabs,” Netanyahu said to the thousands of people who took part in the celebration.

“We are not uprooting people: We are done with all that foolishness,” Netanyahu said as he pledged not to “repeat the mistakes of the past,” such as the 2005 disengagement of 25 settlements: four in Samaria and 21 in Gaza. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Scientists may have found one of the oldest Christian churches in the world

(Worthy News) – Scientists may have discovered one of the oldest Christian churches in the world by using muon radiography to scan a mysterious subterranean building located in the ancient Russian city of Derbent, on the Caspian Sea’s coast.

Archeologists have long wondered exactly the purpose the building served and one hypothesis is that it was some type of Christian temple. Other possible theories for the building’s function: a reservoir or a Zoroastrian fire temple.

The 39-foot building, located in the northwest sector of the medieval fortress of Naryn-Kala, is almost completely hidden underground and built of local-shell limestone; it dates to about 300 A.D. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]
