Let the 2020 Race Begin: Evangelicals, Pastors Set To Mobilize, Change America

(Worthy News) – Roughly 400 pastors and faith leaders will descend on Lynchburg, Virginia later this week as two major evangelical forces unite together in the beginning efforts of a 2020 national ground game aimed at restoring Judeo-Christian principles across the country and mobilizing an evangelical army of pastors to lead the way.

The closed-door two-day event will be held at Liberty University, one of the largest evangelical universities in the country and is organized by the American Renewal Project, led by influential political mechanic David Lane. They’re bringing in the pastors for the affair, many of whom are expected to take part in a political training session as they mull whether to run for local or statewide office.

“The Pastor and Pews events have been extremely valuable in mobilizing church-going voters and illuminating critical issues for elections,” said former presidential candidate and Fox News Contributor Mike Huckabee. [ Source : CBN News(Read More…) ]

Puerto Rico gets third governor after supreme court clears the way

(Worthy News) – Puerto Rico got its third governor in less than a week on Wednesday just hours after the bankrupt U.S. territory’s supreme court ruled that Pedro Pierluisi’s assumption of the office was unconstitutional and ordered him to leave.

The island’s justice secretary, Wanda Vazquez, was sworn in as governor at the supreme court in San Juan.

A unanimous decision by the nine-member high court nullified Pierluisi’s governorship based on the fact his earlier appointment as secretary of state and next in line for governor had not been confirmed by both chambers of the legislature. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Israel seeks to change the face of the battlefield with AI-powered autonomous armored vehicles

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces unveiled plans this week for armored combat vehicles, with features normally seen in fighter planes.

The “Carmel” program’s first demonstration of prototypes on Sunday featured vehicles upgraded with artificial intelligence, and autonomous and automatic capabilities. Three Israeli defense companies — Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, and Rafael — presented their final phase of development after a monthlong trial. These advanced platforms will be integrated into the IDF’s current and future armored vehicles, the Israeli Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The companies each developed a two-person combat vehicle, based on the U.S.-developed M113 armored personnel carrier, with interiors resembling a fighter jet’s cockpit. The advanced cockpit integrates autonomous capabilities, including maneuvering, detecting targets and defense. The soldiers within have multi-sensory fusion and 360-degree surround vision, high radio connectivity, and situational awareness. The soldiers are only required to reach decisions that the mechanism cannot make by itself. [ Source: UPI (Read More…) ]

NATO chief says alliance must prepare ‘to address the rise of China’

(Worthy News) – China’s efforts to establish economic and even military influence far beyond its borders are pushing NATO to develop new plays for the Indo-Pacific, the security bloc’s civilian chief says.

“Investing heavily in critical infrastructure in Europe, increased presence in the Arctic, and also increased presence in Africa, and in cyberspace,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday in Australia, ratting off a list of recent Chinese activity.

“So all of this makes it important for NATO to address the rise of China, and we do that not least by working closely with our partners in this region: Australia, New Zealand, but also Japan and South Korea.” [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Study: Most churchgoers say they can walk with God alone

(Worthy News) – The majority of Protestant churchgoers believe they can walk with God without other believers — yet also say they need other believers to help them in that walk, a new study has found, highlighting the lack of discipleship in today’s churches.

Three in four Protestant churchgoers (75 percent) say they need other believers to help them to grow in their walk with God, with 38 percent strongly agreeing.
