Israeli Intelligence Chief Says Mossad Must Lead the Way in ‘One-Time’ Opportunity to Oust Iran

(Worthy News) – Israel’s Mossad chief is coming out saying the Middle East has a “one-time opportunity” to eliminate Iranian aggression in the region, with the U.S., Israel, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to smaller Gulf Arab states, all aligned against the Islamic republic’s “thuggish behavior.”

Yossi Cohen, who is said to rarely make public appearances, spoke at the IDC Herzliya College conference near Tel Aviv, and disclosed that recent efforts to establish speaking terms between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Gulf country of Oman, for example, had been largely the covert work of the Mossad.

“Open channels of communication with Israel” among “an expanding group of responsible, serious countries” all committed to reducing Iranian proxy activity and preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, Cohen said, constituted “a rare opportunity, perhaps for the first time in Middle East history, to arrive at a regional understanding that would lead to a comprehensive peace accord.”

Cohen said that the Mossad had designated a special task force to harness the peacemaking potential among the countries currently aligned against Iran, many of whom had had assets injured in the recent oil tanker attacks in the Gulf of Oman, by saying it was “the Mossad’s role to lead this effort” to eradicate Iranian hegemony from the region.

Iran broke the first term of the 2015 nuclear accord Monday, going beyond its stipulated 661-pound uranium stockpile, the acquisition of a nuclear bomb by Iran an outcome Cohen said: “the world must not allow…to happen.”
