Trump replaces 90-day ban with new travel restrictions

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation imposing strict new restrictions on travelers from a handful of countries, including five that were covered by his expiring travel ban. Administration officials say the new measures are required to keep the nation safe.

The indefinite restrictions apply to citizens of Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and North Korea. As part of the presidential proclamation signed Sunday, the U.S. will also bar the entry of certain Venezuelan government officials and their immediate families.

The changes will take effect October 18.

The announcement came the same day that Trump’s temporary ban on visitors from six Muslim-majority countries was set to expire, 90 days after it went into effect. That ban had barred citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen who lacked a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States” from entering the U.S. Only one of those countries, Sudan, will no longer be subject to travel restrictions. Israel must be ready to tackle Iran on its own

Israel must be ready to tackle Iran on its own

(Worthy News) – Israel must ask the international community to stop Iran’s nuclearization but prepare to do the task on its own in case the world fails, Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett said in an interview with The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

Bennett, who is a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet, spoke before a meeting of the forum, in which the prime minister reported about his meetings with US President Donald Trump and other world leaders and his progress on the Iranian issue. The meeting was held a day after Iran tested a ballistic missile capable of reaching Israel, as security cabinet members backed Netanyahu’s call at the UN last week to either scrap or change the nuclear deal with Iran.

“On the one hand, we need to persuade the US to apply paralyzing sanctions of the highest level as soon as possible,” Bennett said. “Iran must be forced to choose between the nuclear path and a prosperous economy. Since the Iran deal, they haven’t been presented that option. At the same time, Israel must prepare for the possibility that the US and the world won’t be convinced by getting ready to defend ourselves by ourselves.” [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

Trump aide Greenblatt returning to Israel for peace talks: official

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace negotiator, Jason Greenblatt, is returning to Israel to “continue the peace track” after the president met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas last week in New York, a White House official said on Sunday.

“While President Trump had productive meetings with Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Abbas at the United Nations, we always said that the UN would not focus on peace conversations and that those conversations would be happening on a separate track,” the official said in a statement.

“(Greenblatt) will have follow-up meetings in advance of a private trip in the region with his family for Sukkot. The meetings are part of the Administration’s quiet, steady discussions toward peace,” he said. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Church apologizes after hosting fashion show ‘glorifying demon worship’

(Worthy News) – An Anglican church in London has apologized for allowing a Turkish fashion designer to use its altar as a runway for models who donned outfits with demonic symbolism, including inverted crosses and devil horns, for what was publicized as a satanic fashion show.

St Andrew’s Church in Holborn was used by designer Dilara Findikoglu to flaunt her spring/summer 2018 collection as part of the fashion week, but the Diocese of London says it didn’t know what it entailed.

“The parish of St Andrew’s has always supported London Fashion Week. We took this booking in good faith and were not aware of the content or design before the show took place,” a spokesperson said in a statement to the U.K.’s Premier news portal. [ Source (Read More…) ]

Corruption? Shmorruption! Polls show Israelis don’t care

(Worthy News) – If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was handed the public opinion polls that ran in the weekend newspapers when he arrived home from the United Nations General Assembly, he probably had a relatively relaxing holiday.

The polls were taken for Yediot Aharonot – which has a reputation of being against the prime minister – and Ma’ariv columnist Ben Caspit, who constantly writes against Netanyahu and his wife, Sara.

Both Yediot and Caspit regularly portray Netanyahu as corrupt.

The polls confirm that the public sees him that way, too.

But the public appears to be quite forgiving of that corruption. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

GOP heads toward showdown on Obamacare

GOP heads toward showdown on Obamacare

(Worthy News) – Senate Republicans on Sunday unveiled the latest version of an Obamacare overhaul bill as they face a five-day window for passage and dwindling support within their own party.

Three GOP senators came out against the former version of the bill, including Rand Paul of Kentucky, John McCain of Arizona and Ted Cruz of Texas. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has not explicitly said she would vote against the bill, instead conveying she is leaning against it and it would be difficult for her to envision a scenario in which it would earn her support.

The legislation, which has commonly come to be known as Graham-Cassidy, was authored by GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Dean Heller of Nevada and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. It would transfer Obamacare’s revenue to states in the form of block grants and would repeal the individual and employer mandates. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]
