(Worthy News) – The convoluted war zone in Syria grew more complicated Sunday with the downing of a government warplane by an American jet defending U.S.-backed coalition forces battling the Islamic State and, for the first time, direct action against the insurgent terror group by Iran, which fired ballistic missiles at Islamic State targets in Syria.

Russia Investigation Update: Inquiry Just Beginning, Schiff Says

(Worthy News) – Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election is just beginning while Sen. Angus King said he doesn’t understand why President Donald Trump and his attorney general appear uninterested in the issue.

Trump’s focus has been to get investigators to say he is not under investigation, asking then-FBI Director James Comey to say so in public – something Comey declined to do before he was fired.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich likened the Russia investigation to going down a rabbit hole where no crime actually has been committed but people’s lives are ruined.

Gingrich said if there is going to be an investigation into Russian influence, investigators also should look into a speech given by former President Bill Clinton for which he was paid $500,000 and the brother of Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta. who is a registered agent for a Russian bank.

Gingrich said hires by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller indicate he’s politicizing the investigation and Comey also should be investigated, a sentiment echoed by Trump attorney Jay Sekulow on CNN’s “State of the Union.” [ Source ]

Abbas’s Fatah slams Israel for killing 3 Palestinians carrying out fatal attack

(Worthy News) – Fatah, the political faction of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, condemned Israel for killing three Palestinians who killed Israeli police officer Hadas Malka and injured four others in a stabbing and shooting terror attack in Jerusalem on Friday.

In a statement, Fatah called the deaths of the three assailants, who attacked at two locations near Jerusalem’s Old City, a “war crime.”

Hamas said all three of the assailants were members of Palestinian terrorist organizations.

Fatah “condemns the war crime carried out by Israeli occupation forces in Jerusalem against three Palestinian teens,” spokesperson Osama al- Kawasme said in a statement. Fatah added that “the international community’s silence emboldened Israel to further spill the blood of Palestinians.”

Riot breaks out as army raids West Bank homes of Jerusalem terrorists

Israeli security forces were out in force Saturday in the West Bank village of Deir Abu-Mashal, near Ramallah, home of the three terrorists who carried out the stabbing and shooting attacks near Jerusalem’s Old City on Friday.

Officials said army troops temporarily sealed off the village, then raided the men’s homes, where they searched for weaponry, confiscated various documents and questioned family members over the attack.

Soldiers also mapped the homes of the three men in preparation for the likely demolition of the houses, a common Israeli response to attacks. [ Source ]

Israeli police arrest 350, bolster security in Jerusalem after deadly attack

Less than 48 hours after terrorists killed a female Border Police officer guarding the Old City’s Damascus Gate and wounded two others in the Muslim Quarter, police arrested 350 Arab suspects who illegally entered Jerusalem from the West Bank.

Noting that the three assailants who carried out Friday night’s coordinated attacks that took the life of St.-Sgt.- Maj. Hadas Malka, 23, came unlawfully from the village of Deir Abu Mash’al near Ramallah, police enforced a massive crackdown.

“Police security measures are continuing at the Damascus Gate and around the walls of the Old City, with special patrol units and SWAT teams that are arresting suspects and removing individuals from the area to keep it safe,” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld on Sunday. [ Source ]
