(Worthy News) – The U.S. Senate will delay its consideration of healthcare legislation while Arizona Republican Senator John McCain recuperates from surgery, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said on Saturday.

McCain’s absence cast doubt on whether the Senate would be able to pass the legislation to dismantle and replace Obamacare. McConnell needs 50 “yes” votes for passage in a chamber the Republicans control by a 52-48 margin.

(Worthy News) – Former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon said Sunday to a Saudi news website that the decisions in Lebanon are made by the Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khameini, and not by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

In the interview on the London-based “Elaph,” Ya’alon pointed to Iran as governing the actions of Hezbollah, its proxy group in Lebanon, and the possible implications for Israel.

(Worthy News) – Flooding north of Chicago could worsen on Saturday as rivers keep rising after a deluge earlier this week that damaged thousands of homes and sent water cascading into streets and basements, officials said.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner on Friday issued a disaster proclamation for Lake, McHenry and Kane counties and pledged the support of the state government to people whose properties were damaged or destroyed.

(Worthy News) – France’s President Emmanuel Macron has called for renewed peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians, indicating he will stick to long-standing French policy supporting a two state solution, after his first formal meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Paris on Sunday.

“Everything must be done to advance negotiations, especially considering the regional threats, and we must open new negotiations for this issue,” said Macron at a joint press conference at the Élysée Palace, the French presidential compound in Paris.

(Worthy News) – U.S. forces killed Abu Sayed, the emir of ISIS-K, in a July 11 strike on the group’s headquarters in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Friday.

ISIS-K, or ISIS-Khorasan, is the Afghanistan branch of the terror group operating in the Khorasan region of the country. The group’s headquarters are located in the Kunar Province.

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration has told the Supreme Court that a lower court ruling earlier this week altering an executive order on immigration would bring thousands more refugees into the county and requires the justices’ “immediate intervention,” according to filing documents obtained early Saturday by Fox News.

(Worthy News) – Terrorists killed two Border Police men at the Temple Mount compound on Friday morning after which police imposed a closure on the compound and restrictions on entry to the capital’s Old City.

Around 7 a.m., three young men opened fire next to the Gate of the Tribes (Bab al-Asbat) and wounded three policemen. Border Police officers Haiel Stawi, 30, and Kamil Shnaan, 22, later died from their wounds.

Hamas Calls for More Terror Attacks as Israel Reopens Temple Mount

The Palestinian terror group Hamas called for additional terror attacks in Jerusalem, and against Israelis living in the West Bank, as the Temple Mount gradually reopened Sunday afternoon with bolstered security.

In a terror attack near the flashpoint holy site Friday, three Arab terrorists killed two Israeli Druze police officers. Amid tensions, scuffles break out at Temple Mount entrance

Amid heightened tension at the Temple Mount, sporadic scuffles broke out Sunday between security forces and Muslim protesters who were trying to prevent other Muslim worshipers from going onto the site.

White House Releases Statement After Three Terrorists Open Fire Near Temple Mount, Killing Two Officers

On Saturday, the White House released a statement condeming the recent attack in Jersulam. It reads as follows: “Yesterday, the Holy City of Jerusalem – which means “City of Peace” – became a scene of terror. The people of the United States are heartbroken that terrorists brutally gunned down two Israeli police officers, and we extend our prayers and sympathies to the families of the victims. The United States strongly condemns the terror attack.

There must be zero tolerance for terrorism. It is incompatible with achieving peace and we must condemn it in the strongest terms, defeat it, and eradicate it.

(Worthy News) – The government announced on Sunday that there are no intentions to change the law and allow gay couples to adopt in Israel.

In response to a High Court petition, the state said that it was opposed to allowing same-sex couples to adopt because it would place an “additional burden” on the child.
