(Worthy News) – The Knesset on Monday unanimously passed a law to ban Israel’s binary options industry, a vast, multibillion dollar scam that has defrauded millions of victims worldwide for a decade.

The law, which will go into effect three months from now, came about as a direct result of The Times of Israel’s investigative reporting on the fraud, which began with a March 2016 article entitled “The wolves of Tel Aviv: Israel’s vast, amoral binary options scam exposed.” The law gives all binary options firms the intervening three months to cease operations. After that, anyone involved in binary options is punishable with up to two years in jail.

(Worthy News) – With Vice President Mike Pence casting the deciding vote, the Senate voted late Tuesday night to undo a rule issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that would bar financial firms from contracts that rule out class-action lawsuits related to their products. The measure now goes to President Trump’s desk.

Two Republicans, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John Kennedy of Louisiana, voted no, forcing Pence to break the tie.

The rule in question, commonly referred to as the forced-arbitration rule, was drafted during former President Barack Obama’s tenure and finalized in July by Bureau Director Richard Cordray, an Obama appointee. It prevents banks and other financial firms from including clauses in contracts that steer customers away from class-action suits and into private arbitration. (Worthy News) – Iran’s judiciary says a court has sentenced an alleged agent for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency to death.

Tuesday’s report on the judiciary’s news website Mizanonline.ir quotes Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi as saying that the suspect had relayed information about some 30 significant Iranian figures to Mossad during meetings with more than eight members of the Israeli agency at various occasions.

He said the 30 Iranians were involved in research, military and nuclear projects, including two who were killed in bomb attacks in 2010, nuclear engineer Majid Shahriari and physicist Masoud Ali Mohammadi. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – A huge trove of Jewish documents and manuscripts, thought to have been destroyed in the Holocaust, has been discovered in Lithuania.

More than 170,000 pages of rare materials, including a postcard from famed modernist painter Marc Chagall and letters from the writer Sholem Aleichem, were found in the Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania, earlier this year. The discovery, announced Tuesday by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York, is of immense historical importance.

“When a find like this comes along, it’s monumental,” David Fishman, professor of Jewish history at the Jewish Theological Seminary and author of the book, “The Book Smugglers” told Fox News. “It’s the most important find since the Dead Sea Scrolls.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – Settler leaders launched a tent protest outside the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem Tuesday, demanding that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately allocate funds for bypass roads and other security improvements for residents of the West Bank.

Joined by two chairmen of local settler councils as well as members of bereaved families who lost relatives in terror attacks on West Bank roads, Samaria Regional Council chairman Yossi Dagan called on Netanyahu to transfer the NIS 300 million ($85 million) that he had promised the settlers two years ago in the form of a security package.

“Mr. Prime Minister, you think that sourpusses exist only on the left. I regret to inform you that there are another half a million sourpusses in Judea and Samaria as well,” says Dagan, a reference to Netanyahu’s Monday speech opening the Knesset’s winter session, in which he labeled his opponents “sourpusses” (literally, “pickles”) for downplaying the country’s many successes. (Worthy News) – The chief of staff to the Iranian regime’s “supreme leader” said on Tuesday that a US-Israeli “plot” to create a “second Israel” in Iraqi Kurdistan had been thwarted through the seizure of Kurdish territory by Iranian-backed forces over the last week.

Mohamadi Gulpaygani, who serves as chief of staff to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, singled out both his boss and Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), for special praise.

“The United States and Israel had plotted to create a second Israel in the Kurdistan Region, and it was shameful to wave the Israeli flag there,” Gulpaygani said, referring to the frequent display of Israeli flags at Kurdish independence rallies prior to the September 25 referendum in which 93 percent of voters supported an independent Kurdistan.
