Virginia Rally Rejects Radical Democratic Abortion Agenda for State

(Worthy News) – Hundreds of pro-life advocates gathered in Lorton, Virginia Saturday to hold what they labeled as a Rally Against Abortion Extremism. It comes after a week in which a Democratic bill was defeated in Virginia’s legislature that would have allowed unrestricted abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.

Alison Centofante of Live Action said the bill was quite radical, saying “75 percent of Americans reject abortion. They are for limiting abortion to the first trimester if not banning it outright. That includes 60 percent of Democrats.”

Video clips of Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran, who sponsored the bill, and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam defending the bill, went viral over the last few days. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

State legislatures consider expanding use of Bible in high school curricula

(Worthy News) – Legislatures from the Bible Belt to the Dakotas are mulling bills that would establish biblical literacy courses in high schools, but some education analysts say classes focusing on the Bible’s cultural and historical relevance already are offered in public schools in those states and elsewhere.

An education official in Indiana said students in the state have been able to study Bible-based literature for some time. Nearly a third of high schools in Iowa offered religious education courses last year, an official there said.

When Kentucky lawmakers overwhelmingly passed state Rep. DJ Johnson’s bill to standardize rules for social studies classes in 2017, some school districts had long been teaching Bible literacy in their high schools. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

New Right said seeking bloc with Likud, Kulanu and Yisrael Beytenu

(Worthy News) – With Benny Gantz’s Israel Resilience party soaring in the polls after announcing a merger with fellow former chief of staff Moshe Ya’alon’s Telem faction last week, the newly formed New Right party is now reportedly seeking to form a united bloc of all the major right-wing parties in order to counter a challenge from the center.

Fearing a continued surge for Gantz, Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked’s New Right is actively pursuing a possible merger with the ruling Likud party as well two other current coalition partners, Kulanu and Yisrael Beytenu, according to a report Sunday morning by the Kan public broadcaster.

Likud is currently polling at around 30 seats, with Israel Resilience predicted to snag around 19 seats if elections were held today. But polls held last week showed a further Israel Resilience merger with the centrist Yesh Atid getting around 35 seats, and the bloc could further strengthen if more center-left parties agree to unite. Trump team says PA wants to skirt U.S. courts

(Worthy News) – The administration of US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that it has ended security funding and training to the Palestinian Authority, claiming that Ramallah itself had requested that the aid be cut in order to circumvent the jurisdiction of US courts.

The 14-year-old US Security Coordinator (USSC) mission and the $61 million the US provides annually, are perceived to be the cornerstone of an effective PA security service. But a new law passed with bipartisan support titled the Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act, which came into force on Friday, exposed the PA to lawsuits in American courts from US citizens affected by Palestinian terrorist activity – if the PA continues accepting US financial assistance.

Already in December, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah informed the Trump administration that the Palestinians would no longer accept any US financial assistance, most of which had already been cut off, save for the security funds. PLO Secretary-General Saeb Erekat repeated that position on Thursday. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]
