May buckles: British PM to rule out no-deal Brexit

(Worthy News) – British Prime Minister Theresa May will on Tuesday propose formally ruling out a no-deal Brexit in a bid to avoid a rebellion by lawmakers who are threatening to grab control of the divorce process, The Sun and Daily Mail newspapers reported.

If May does rule out a no-deal, it would mark one of the biggest turning points in the United Kingdom’s labyrinthine Brexit crisis since the shock 2016 referendum vote to leave the European Union.

After the British parliament voted 432-202 against her divorce deal in January, the worst defeat for a government in modern British history, May has tried to use the threat of a potentially disorderly no-deal Brexit to get concessions out of the EU. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Four Christian Women Falsely Accused of Blasphemy in Pakistan

(Worthy News) – International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that four Christian women from the Farooq-e-Azam neighborhood of Karachi, Pakistan were falsely accused of blasphemy on February 19, 2019. Following the false accusation, a mob of enraged Muslims attacked the Christian-majority neighborhood, leading to the displacement of approximately 200 Christian families.

The incident began in January 2019, when Fayaz and Samina Riaz, a Muslim couple, were asked to vacate their rented house by their Christian landlord, Amjad Dildar. According to local Christians, the Muslim couple had been “causing trouble among the Christian families in the community” and were asked to leave. Today Science Fiction, Tomorrow Science Fact? Artificial Wombs Could Change the Debate Over Abortion

(Worthy News) – There’s a scientific breakthrough approaching that could permanently alter the abortion debate as we know it.

That new development is the artificial uterus or womb, which could lower the developmental age at which an unborn baby is feasible to survive and live a normal life.

The website Real Clear Science reports that currently, an artificial uterus with such a capability is still science fiction. However, artificial uteruses capable of shrinking the gestation period to 15 weeks may only be a few years away from being developed. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Islamic Jihad touts new missile that can hit Tel Aviv and beyond

(Worthy News) – The Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group boasted Sunday evening that it had developed a new missile that can hit beyond Tel Aviv, threatening to turn Israeli cities into “hell.”

The Gaza-based organization made the claim in a documentary film broadcast on Iranian television, which included footage of various projectiles, other weapons and missile launches.

The missile was made with help from Iran, PIJ said. The group, which is backed by Tehran and is the second-largest terror organization in Gaza, after its Hamas rulers, said that the “first missile” it launches toward Tel Aviv will be Iranian-made. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

India launches airstrike in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir targeting ‘terror camps’

(Worthy News) – Pakistan says India launched an airstrike on its territory early Tuesday that caused no casualties, while India said it targeted a terrorist training camp in a pre-emptive strike that killed a “very large number” of militants.

The overnight raid was the latest escalation between the nuclear-armed rivals since a deadly militant attack in the disputed Kashmir region earlier this month killed more than 40 Indian soldiers. Pakistan has denied involvement in the attack but has vowed to respond to any Indian military operation against it.

The Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility. The bomber, who made a video before the attack, was a resident of Indian Kashmir.

Dems block ‘born alive’ bill to provide medical care to infants who survive failed abortions

(Worthy News) – Senate Democrats on Monday blocked a Republican bill that would have threatened prison time for doctors who don’t try saving the life of infants born alive during failed abortions, leading conservatives to wonder openly whether Democrats were embracing “infanticide” to appeal to left-wing voters.

All prominent Democratic 2020 presidential hopefuls in the Senate voted down the measure, including Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. The final vote was 53-44 to end Democratic delaying tactics — seven votes short of the 60 needed.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would have required that “any health care practitioner present” at the time of a birth “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Washington to sue Trump over rule stripping Planned Parenthood funding

(Worthy News) – Washington state is set to sue the Trump administration over new rules that will cause healthcare clinics providing abortions and receiving federal family planning grants to close and that will block medical providers from telling patients where they can get an abortion.

Washington state will sue the Trump administration in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington as soon as the rule is published, which could be as early as Monday. Washington will also file for a preliminary injunction that would block the rule from going into effect, which would otherwise occur 60 days after it is posted. New Republican bill would retain and retool Obamacare

(Worthy News) – A Republican congressman is taking another swing at overhauling Obamacare even as most members of the party have set their sights on reforming other areas of healthcare.

Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., will be introducing a bill Tuesday that pulls from different healthcare bills that lawmakers have weighed in the last two years, from the failed GOP “repeal and replace” bill to the foundered Senate bipartisan Obamacare stabilization package. It also keeps a good portion of Obamacare in place and codifies healthcare provisions the Trump administration has authorized through rulemaking.

The details of the bill, known as the Fair Care Act, suggest that Westerman is trying to grapple with the reality that Obamacare is unlikely to be repealed and looking at ways to make it more conservative. Westerman said he hopes he can bring more Republicans on board even though many of them have moved on from the issue and are focused instead on tackling healthcare costs.
