Leaders from EU, Arab League hold first-ever joint summit

(Worthy News) – Leaders from European Union and Arab League countries pledged Sunday to boost cooperation in the fight against terrorism and to tackle unauthorized migration at a first-ever summit high in symbolism but likely to yield few concrete results.

Under tight security at the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi opened two days of talks with a speech celebrating what he described as historic cooperation between the two organizations.

But despite the public display of unity, just drafting a summit statement has proved difficult. EU and Arab League foreign ministers failed to agree earlier this month on a text after Hungary objected to the section on migration, and work on the document is continuing. Abbas urges Europeans to play greater role in peace process, recognize Palestine

(Worthy News) – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urged European states on Sunday to play a greater role in mediating the peace process and recognize the “State of Palestine,” contending that failing to do so was a betrayal of European values.

“Has the time not come for European states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so, especially in light of your belief in the two-state solution?” Abbas said in a short speech at a two-day summit of Arab and European leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh, an Egyptian resort city.

“You have recognized Israel, supported it since its establishment and defended its security. That is your right. But if you’ll allow me to say this: Your not recognizing the Palestinian right to self-determination in its state is a move that contradicts your values and your European principles.” [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Thousands of Christians Meet in Prayer and Worship in Orlando, Declare a New Era of Evangelism

(Worthy News) – Thousands of Christians descended on Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday to declare a new era of evangelism, praying and believing that America will turn back to Jesus Christ.

It was all a part of an event known as The Send, a collaboration of national ministries that hopes to activate every believer into their evangelistic calling. Organizers included Youth With A Mission, Christ for All Nations, and Lou Engle of Lou Engle Ministries.

The Send also wanted to convey one message — a war on inaction — to get every believer to take action. They reported the response of those attending the event on social media. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Trump Admin Ends Abortion ‘Slush Fund,’ Frees Taxpayers from ‘Forced Partnership with Abortion Industry’

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration has delivered a blow to the abortion industry, finalizing a rule that redirects Title X family planning funds away from groups like Planned Parenthood, which is America’s biggest abortion provider.

Under the new rule, health clinics must be “physically and financially” separate from abortion providers in order to receive Title X family planning grants.

To get those grants, women’s clinics also won’t be permitted to refer clients to other places to get an abortion. Moreover, clinics will not be allowed to promote abortion as a family planning method. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

‘Substantial progress’: Trump cancels tariff increase on Chinese imports

(Worthy News) – President Trump on Sunday said the U.S. has made “substantial progress” in trade talks with China and he will no longer increase tariffs on Chinese imports on March 1.

Mr. Trump, in a series of Twitter posts, said talks with Chinese negotiators bore fruit on “intellectual property protection, technology transfer, agriculture, services, currency, and many other issues.”

Negotiations between the world’s largest economies are the main side course to a full menu of White House efforts this coming week, including negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un over his nuclear ambitions and dealing with special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian meddling and Mr. Trump’s behavior during and after the 2016 campaign. Trump happy if North Korea doesn’t test weapons; peace deal a possibility

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump has said he would be happy as long as North Korea maintains its pause on weapons testing, and he was in no rush to strike a nuclear deal with its leader, Kim Jong Un, when they hold their second summit this week.

The two leaders will meet in Hanoi on Wednesday (Feb 27) and Thursday, eight months after their historic summit in Singapore, the first between a sitting US president and a North Korean leader.

The two leaders pledged to work towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, but their vague agreement has produced few results. US Democratic senators and security officials have warned Trump against cutting a deal that would do little to curb North Korea’s nuclear ambitions. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Trump under pressure for real results in summit with Kim

(Worthy News) – Eight months after his breakthrough meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Mr. Trump this week heads into the second denuclearization summit under greater scrutiny to bring back more tangible results from the high-stakes parley in Vietnam.

Some analysts expect an agreement that would require North Korea to freeze its production of fissile material at its Yongbyon Nuclear Research Center, used to make nuclear weapons. It’s not clear what Mr. Trump is willing to give in return.

Their first meeting in Singapore produced vague promises from Mr. Kim to abandon his weapons programs, but there has been scant progress on that front since then despite months of follow-up talks between the two sides. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
