Fears Of New Arms Race As U.S., Russia Let Historic INF Treaty Lapse

(Worthy News) – A landmark nuclear agreement that eliminated an entire class of land-based missiles is ending on August 2 as both the United States and Russia officially withdraw from the 31-year-old deal.

The bilateral Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty banned the Soviet Union and United States from developing, producing, or deploying ground-launched cruise or ballistic missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers after it was ratified by U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1988. Syrian Christians in US fear deportation as their protected status is in ‘jeopardy’

(Worthy News) – Thousands of Syrian immigrants in the U.S., including Christians, could be at risk of deportation back to their dangerous and deadly home country. A decision by the Trump administration to extend their longstanding temporary protected status has yet to be made as a crucial deadline looms, advocates say.

With a Sept. 30 deadline, advocates say that a decision is expected on Thursday by Acting Director of Citizenship and Immigration Services, Ken Cuccinelli, on whether the temporary protected status will continue for 7,000 Syrians seeking refuge in the U.S.

Temporary protected status is given by the Department of Homeland Security to immigrants from countries suffering through war or disaster who came legally to the U.S. in order to give them the ability to stay and work until conditions in their country improve. Based in Lebanon but entrenched in Latin America, Hezbollah helps Iran spread global terrorism

(Worthy News) – It has been 25 years since Iran and Hezbollah carried out a horrific attack against a Jewish target in Buenos Aires, in which 85 Jews were murdered and more than 300 injured, yet the terror regime and its proxy continue to operate freely in Latin America. Now, in a renewed effort, some influential American leaders are working to convince area nations to take a stand and expel terrorists stationed in the region.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attended a Latin America counter-terrorism conference last week that focused on Iran and Hezbollah, and coincided with the date of the bombing at the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) building on July 18, 1994. At the commemoration, Pompeo blamed Iran for causing the death of so many victims, saying, “they were killed by members of a terrorist group, Hezbollah, and had help that day from Iran.”

The U.S. focus on Iran and Hezbollah has been welcomed by those who understand the gravity of the threat they pose in Latin America. [ Source:JNS (Read More…) ]

In addition, he met with Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Oman’s minister responsible for foreign affairs. Kushner was joined by special envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt, special representative for Iran Brian Hook and deputy assistant to the president Avi Berkowitz.
