Dems plan to bring in Mueller for televised hearings if Trump fires him

(Worthy News) – Top Democrats in the House are reportedly planning to invite Robert Mueller to testify on Capitol Hill in televised hearings if President Trump takes action to fire the special counsel and shut down the Russia investigation.

Senior Democratic aides told Politico that if Trump were to fire Mueller and other members of the Justice Department’s leadership in a scenario similar to Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre, Democrats would respond by inviting Mueller to testify before the House in a televised hearing.

“I think you could expect Democrats to take pieces of what they shut down and expose it publicly,” a senior aide familiar with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) thinking told Politico. [ Source: The Hill (Read More…) ]

“I couldn’t believe it. We had hit the mark in one of the most exciting and most fulfilling moments of my life,” Pastor Todd Phillips, founder and executive director of The Last Well, told The Dallas Morning News.

The Last Well is a Christian nonprofit that has made it its mission to not just bring clean water to all of Liberia — one of the poorest countries in the world — by 2020, but access to the Gospel as well. [ Source: Christian Post (Read More…) ]

Saudi Crown Prince Told Evangelical Leaders Khashoggi Murder Was ‘Terrible Mistake’

(Worthy News) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) told American evangelical leaders in their meeting last week that the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was a “terrible mistake” and vowed to punish those responsible.

As was previously reported, the crown prince met with several evangelical leaders from the United States in Riyadh last week for a two-hour conversation on the crown prince’s vision for peace and harmony in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, which consistently faces international scrutiny for human rights and religious freedom violations.

The evangelical leaders — who are mostly conservative supporters of President Donald Trump — took heat online from critics who condemned the group for meeting with MBS in light of the international outrage surrounding the death of Khashoggi, a Washington Post journalist who was said to have been killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in early October. U.S. sanctions Russians over Crimea ties

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration placed a new round of sanctions against 12 Russian individuals and businesses.

The sanctions are aimed at a company connected with Bank Rossiya and Russian businessman Yuri Kovalchuk, as well as others doing business in Crimea, a territory the U.S. said Russia illegally annexed in 2014.

The Treasury Department said one Russian intelligence officer and another official in eastern Ukraine received sanctions for taking part in “serious human rights abuses.” The department also targeted eight entities for illegally operating on behalf of Russia in Crimea. [ Source: UPI (Read More…) ]
