(Worthy News) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating 286 possible cases of a polio-like condition called acute flaccid myelitis, including 116 confirmed ones in 31 states, the agency said Monday.

The number of confirmed cases increased by 10 from last week, as the total eclipsed the 33 confirmed cases in 16 states last year. Two years ago there were 149 cases in 39 states and the District of Columbia, according to the CDC.

Despite the outbreak, “less than one to two in a million children in the United States will get AFM every year,” the CDC said. [ Source: UPI (Read More…) ]

(Worthy News) – More than 600 members of the 10,000 migrants traveling from Central America to the U.S. are convicted criminals, the country’s top security official said Monday evening.

In a Facebook post defending U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s handling of a large group of people who attempted to run over the U.S.-Mexico border Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said a significant number of those migrants were known as criminals in their countries of origin.

“[W]e cannot confirm the backgrounds and identities of all caravan members which possess a national security and public safety risk to our country. However, at this point we have confirmed that there are over 600 convicted criminals traveling with the caravan flow. This includes individuals known to law enforcement for assault, battery, drug crimes, burglary, rape, child abuse and more. (Worthy News) – Ukraine on Monday imposed martial law for 30 days in parts of the country most vulnerable to an attack from Russia after President Petro Poroshenko warned of the “extremely serious” threat of a land invasion.

Poroshenko said martial law was necessary to bolster Ukraine’s defenses after Russia seized three Ukrainian naval ships and took their crew prisoner at the weekend.

(Worthy News) – Donald Trump has suggested Theresa May’s Brexit agreement could threaten a US-UK trade deal.

The US president did not specify which aspect of the deal concerned him but told reporters the withdrawal agreement “sounds like a great deal for the EU”.

Mrs May fought off heavy criticism of her Brexit deal from MPs on Monday.

(Worthy News) – The US “remains committed to sharing its vision for peace with Israel, the Palestinians and other regional and international stakeholders at the appropriate time,” US Ambassador David Friedman said on Monday.

Friedman’s comments, in the form of a rare press release, came amid much speculation over when the US will roll-out the long-delayed plan, with some saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pressuring the US to delay the plan, because its expected call for Israeli concessions is not something that will play well with right wing voters that he will be competing against, such as Bayit Yehudi and Yisrael Beytenu.

(Worthy News) – A senior Russian diplomat has warned that the planned U.S. withdrawal from a Cold War-era arms control pact could critically upset stability in Europe.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Monday that if the U.S. deploys intermediate range missiles in Europe after opting out of the treaty banning their use, it will allow Washington to reach targets deep inside Russia.

(Worthy News) – The United States on Monday (Nov 26) warned Russia that “outlaw actions” like the seizure of Ukrainian ships in the Sea of Azov are preventing normal relations from developing between Washington and Moscow.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley told an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council that “the United States would welcome a normal relationship with Russia. But outlaw actions like this one continue to make that impossible.”

(Worthy News) – Six Ukrainian seamen were hurt in the naval incident which took place near Crimea, a Ukrainian province which Russia seized back in 2014.

Monday, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley spoke out against Russia’s actions at an emergency UN meeting saying, “The United States will continue to stand with the Ukraine against the Russian aggression.”
