US hopes Russia will continue to let Israel hit Iranian assets in Syria

(Worthy News) – Washington will focus on pressuring Iran financially and contesting its activities in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, where the Islamic republic enjoys broad influence, the U.S. envoy to Syria said Wednesday, adding that Tehran should eventually withdraw all Iran-commanded forces from Syria.

Ambassador James Jeffrey told a group of journalists via a telephone conference that Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, which U.S. President Donald Trump pulled America out of in May, had a bad effect on Iran’s behavior and that it has “accelerated its activities.”

Iran enjoys influence in several countries in the region where it backs well-armed terrorist groups deployed in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. Speaking about Iran’s future in Syria, Jeffrey said: “Iranians are part of the problem not part of the solution.” [ Source: Israel Hayom (Read More…) ]

Syrian officer: Russia’s S-300 system minimizes success of Israeli strike

(Worthy News) – The deployment of Russia’s advanced S-300 anti-aircraft systems to Syria has minimized the chances of successful Israeli air strikes, a senior Syrian officer said Thursday.

“There is no concept of zero probability in military strategy,” Syrian Army political bureau head Brig.-Gen. Hasan Ahmad Hasan told Russia’s Sputnik News. “We cannot say that this probability has been reduced to zero, because we are talking about open skies, extended borders, various technologies… Therefore, I cannot say that in the end there will not be such a probability, however, the probability of this aggression achieving its goals has been minimized.”

Russia delivered the launcher, radar and command and control vehicle of the advanced air-to-surface missile system to Syria in early October. The delivery was a response to the downing of a Russian reconnaissance plane by Syrian air defenses during an Israeli air strike on Iranian targets during the previous month.

Midterm turnout surges to 50-year high, early estimates show

(Worthy News) – Voter turnout soared in the 2018 midterm elections, according to an early projection in a new study, potentially reaching the highest level in over 50 years.

An estimated 48.1 percent of eligible voters cast ballots, over 113 million people in total, according to research by University of Florida Professor Michael McDonald, who runs the U.S. Election Project. If that holds it would be the highest rate since 1966, when 48.7 percent of voters participated.

The numbers are still subject to change as states continue to report final vote counts, especially places like California, where voters can mail in their choices all the way up to Election Day and large numbers of ballots have yet to be counted. [ Source: NBC News (Read More…) ]

GOP Senate candidate Rick Scott files bombshell lawsuits accusing Dem Florida election officials of trying to ‘steal the election’

(Worthy News) – Accusing Democrats of “rampant fraud” and a coordinated effort to “steal” elections, Republican Senate candidate Rick Scott filed explosive lawsuits late Thursday against the top election officials in two heavily Democratic counties, as they continue to report new votes and three major races in the state appear headed for recounts.

In their lawsuit against Broward County, Scott and the National Republican Senatorial Committeee (NRSC) allege that officials there are continuing to hide critical information about the number of votes cast and counted. And in a parallel suit against Palm Beach County, Scott and the NRSC charge that the election supervisor illegally used her own judgment to determine voter intent when reviewing damaged absentee ballots, while refusing to allow witnesses to monitor the process.

“I will not stand idly by while unethical liberals try to steal an election,” Scott, who is currently Florida’s governor, said at a press conference outside the Governor’s Mansion, as he slammed potential “rampant fraud” in the race.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fractures 3 ribs in fall

(Worthy News) – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized Thursday after fracturing three ribs on her left side in a fall at her office a day earlier, the court said in a news release.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. But she later reported experiencing some discomfort, and was admitted to George Washington University Hospital “for observation and treatment.”

Ginsburg has survived a series of health scares. She broke two ribs in a fall in 2012, has had two prior bouts with cancer and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014. Despite the issues, Ginsburg has yet to miss a single day of oral arguments during her tenure, The Washington Post reported. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]
