Rick Scott files flurry of election lawsuits with Florida recount underway

(Worthy News) – Florida Gov. Rick Scott, the GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, filed multiple lawsuits against Broward and Palm Beach Counties on Sunday, accusing local officials of “willful disregard of the law.”

Votes counted by Palm Beach County after the noon deadline on Saturday should not be included in the statewide recount, Scott argues in one of his complaints, according to CNN. Palm Beach County elections supervisor Susan Buchner and Broward County supervisor of elections Brenda Snipes have come under scrutiny for the recount effort.

In two different lawsuits, Scott’s campaign is requesting that voting tabulation equipment be impounded after the recount and that all ballots be preserved. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Death toll rises in California as wildfires rage across state

(Worthy News) – The charred remains of 14 more people have been found in and around a Northern California town overrun by flames from a massive wildfire, officials said on Saturday, raising the death toll to at least 23.

The Camp Fire burned down more than 6,700 homes and businesses in Paradise, more structures than any other California wildfire on record, and the death toll, which could still rise, also makes it one of the deadliest.

Central American migrants resume their march toward U.S. border

(Worthy News) – Hundreds of Central American migrants resumed their march north through Mexico on Saturday, en route to the U.S. border where President Donald Trump has effectively suspended the granting of asylum to migrants who cross illegally.

Trump’s Friday order, which went into effect on Saturday, means that migrants will have to present themselves at U.S. ports of entry to qualify for asylum and follow other rules unveiled on Thursday that seek to limit asylum claims.

The caravan, made up mostly of Hondurans, started north again on Saturday morning following a rest of four days in Mexico City. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

U.S. envoy: Trump’s Mideast ‘deal of the century’ to be released ‘soon’

(Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump will “soon” release his plan for Israel-Palestinian peace and both sides should not “listen to rumors” about the plan, White House Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt said.

Trump’s proposal will be for a complete solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict as interim solutions have not worked and the U.S. won’t invest time in them anymore as they “do not improve the lives of Palestinians, but only prolong the cycle of suffering and violence,” Greenblatt said.

ABC, NBC Ignore Court Rulings Against Dems for Florida Election Shenanigans

(Worthy News) – As the contentious Florida gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races moved on to a mandatory machine recount, they do so under a cloud corruption as Democratic election officials were accused of voter fraud and other forms of misconduct. Despite the fact that Florida courts had already ruled twice against Democrats, ABC’s and NBC’s Sunday morning news programs ignored the orders for transparency. The networks preferred to keep the truth hidden.

In sharp contrast, their network competitor, CBS News, wasn’t afraid to tell the truth. In a report out Friday, they told readers that Florida Governor Rick Scott won both of this lawsuits. In the lawsuit against Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher, the county court found that the Democrat was illegally withholding over-votes and under-votes from the county canvassing board and barring public viewing of counting.

On top of that, “Scott also filed a lawsuit against Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes on Thursday evening, alleging that her office is hiding information about the number of ballots left to be counted.” Again, the court ruled in his favor as Snipes kept ‘discovering’ new ballots. Trump could designate Iran-backed Yemen rebels as terror group, report says

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration is reportedly contemplating designating Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militia as a terrorist organization, igniting a debate over whether or not such a label will bring the protracted war to a faster end.

According to the Middle East-focused news and analysis site Al-Monitor, designating the Houthis as terrorists would “make it illegal for U.S. citizens to provide money or other material support to the group” – potentially ratcheting up enough pressure to make the Houthis behave “the way the U.S., Saudis and others want them to.”

The potential classification is part of the White House’s wider effort to crack down on Iranian activities that it says contribute to destabilizing the region. The US would then be able to freeze Houthi-connected financial assets, impose penalties on anyone deemed to be providing “material support” to the group and prosecute individuals considered to be backing them. Softly, softly for now, British PM May’s enforcers gear up for big Brexit vote

(Worthy News) – Less than five months before Britain leaves the European Union, Prime Minister Theresa May’s parliamentary enforcers are on the prowl.

For now, the government “whips” whose job it is to ensure parliament backs whatever Brexit deal May agrees with Brussels are taking a softly-softly approach. But Chief Whip Julian Smith and his team have a powerful armory at their disposal to force politicians into line.

With an agreement most likely to go before lawmakers later this year, May’s team and the whips she appointed are quietly sounding out who might vote against it, several politicians told Reuters. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

Abbas eyeing ‘decisive decisions’ in relations with Hamas, Israel and U.S.

(Worthy News) – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas accused Hamas of obstructing the establishment of a Palestinian state, and hinted that he was planning new measures against the Gaza Strip.

Abbas, who was speaking during a rally in Ramallah on Sunday marking the 14th anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Yasser Arafat, also lashed out at the US and Israel because of US President Donald Trump’s yet-to-be-announced plan for peace in the Middle East, which is also referred to as the “deal of the century.”

“There is an American conspiracy in the form of the deal of the century, and there is an Israeli conspiracy to implement the deal,” Abbas said. “Regrettably, there is another conspiracy by Hamas to obstruct the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.” [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]
