State Judge Rules Iowa’s ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Bill Unconstitutional

(Worthy News) – District Court Judge Michael Huppert ruled Tuesday that Iowa’s pro-life “fetal heartbeat” law is unconstitutional and may not be enforced.

The law would ban abortions once a baby’s heartbeat is detected, which can happen as early as six weeks into gestation. The law was passed last year and was supposed to take effect July 1.

Huppert wrote in his decision that defenders of the law did not present a compelling state interest that justifies banning most abortions after a baby’s heart starts beating; therefore, the law violates Iowa’s Constitution, Huppert ruled. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

Media Outlets Unleash 3 Major Anti-Christian Blunders in Just 7 Days

(Worthy News) – It has not been a good week for the mainstream media. President Trump often refers to media as “fake news” and they’ve certainly been doing a good job in recent days of helping make that claim credible.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw pointed out earlier today that there have been four major blunders this week alone:

Rivlin warns Macron: Israel may have to hit Hezbollah rocket factories in Beirut

(Worthy News) – President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday told his French counterpart that Israel could be forced to strike the Hezbollah terror group’s rocket-building operations “in the heart of Beirut,” a development he warned would drag Lebanon into a punishing regional war that neither side wants.

Rivlin made the remarks during a meeting with France’s President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysée Palace in Paris during an official visit to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and France.

“If we are threatened from Lebanon, we will not stand by,” Rivlin told Macron, according a statement from his office. “Hezbollah is creating facilities to produce and convert precision-guided missiles in the heart of Beirut under civilian cover and with Iranian support.” [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Judge lets Arkansas law against Israeli boycotts stand

(Worthy News) – A federal judge on Wednesday let stand an Arkansas law requiring state contractors to pledge not to boycott Israel, ruling that such a boycott is not protected by the First Amendment.

US District Judge Brian Miller dismissed the lawsuit the Arkansas Times had filed challenging the 2017 law. The newspaper had asked the judge to block the law, which requires contractors with the state to reduce their fees by 20 percent if they don’t sign the pledge.

The Times’ lawsuit said the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College refused to contract for advertising with the newspaper unless the Arkansas Times signed the pledge. The paper isn’t engaged in a boycott against Israel. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Russia calls on Israel to ‘rule out practice’ of striking Syria

(Worthy News) – Russia called on Israel to “rule out” the “practice” of carrying out airstrikes in Syrian territories, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a press briefing on Wednesday.

“We have not changed our stance related to this topic,” she said. “The practice of delivering arbitrary airstrikes against a sovereign state should be ruled out. The escalation of hostilities in the region is not in line with the interests of Middle East states, including Israel.”

US-backed forces about to end Islamic State’s last enclave in Syria

(Worthy News) – U.S.-backed, Kurdish-led forces are on the verge of eliminating Islamic State militants’ last remaining enclave in Syria near the border with Iraq after a four-month devastating bombing campaign that has left hundreds of civilian casualties, residents and rebels said on Wednesday.

The capture of the village of Baghous comes after a string of other villages fell in recent days to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led militia alliance with aerial bombing strikes by the U.S.-led coalition.

The SDF, who launched a major offensive last September to remove the militants from their last pocket, were at first bogged down by fierce resistance, but advanced last month when they finally took the town of Hajin, the main urban stronghold in the enclave.[ Source: Channel News Asia (Read More…) ]

White House: ‘All options on the table’ in dealing with crisis in Venezuela

(Worthy News) – The U.S. and nations across the hemisphere launched a stunning, coordinated rebuke Wednesday and declared that Venezuelan socialist President Nicolas Maduro is no longer his country’s legitimate leader, with President Trump vowing that “all options are on the table” — including military action — to deal with the long-running crisis in Caracas.

Mr. Trump, along with the Organization of American States (OAS) and countries from Canada to Brazil and Argentina, said he now recognizes Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country’s interim president until new, fair elections can be organized. The unusually bold move comes just a week after Mr. Maduro, a protege of the late anti-U.S. populist Hugo Chavez, claimed a second six-year term in an election widely seen as illegitimate after he barred his chief political opponents from the race. Maduro says Venezuela is breaking relations with US, gives American diplomats 72 hours to leave country

(Worthy News) – Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself interim president on Wednesday, winning over the backing of the Washington and many Latin American nations and prompting socialist Nicolas Maduro to break relations with the United States.

Speaking to supporters outside the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, socialist leader Maduro said he would give U.S. diplomatic personnel 72 hours to leave Venezuela, which is suffering from a hyperinflationary economic collapse.

U.S. President Donald Trump formally recognized Guaido shortly after his announcement and praised his plan to hold elections. That was swiftly followed by similar statements from Canada and a slew of right-leaning Latin American governments, including Venezuela’s neighbors Brazil and Colombia. [ Source: CNBC (Read More…) ]
