Trump Signs Bibles for Tornado Survivors in Alabama, Operation Blessing Helping Victims: ‘Please Be Praying for Us’

(Worthy News) – President Trump visited Alabama where a deadly tornado hit Sunday. The powerful EF-4 storm tore through the rural countryside with 170 mph winds leaving 23 people dead.

Since the disaster struck, President Trump has been in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Alabama’s Gov. Kay Ivey (R) to assist the situation.

During his visit to the tornado zone, a reporter noted that the president was signing Bibles for “volunteers and survivors at a Baptist church.”

Operation Blessing is on the ground with a team of disaster relief experts and a convoy of equipment. The international organization has helped victims like Barbara Rowan. She was not home when the storm hit and believes her life was spared. Operation Blessing prayed with her and helped her sort through and clean up debris. Rowan was overwhelmed with emotion from the love of Jesus that was shown.

Trump Aiming to Complete Obama-era Trade Negotiations with Israel

(Worthy News) – Donald Trump’s drive to reshape global trade won’t spare one of his country’s closest allies and its oldest free-trade partner — Israel.

U.S. trade negotiators are traveling to Israel next week for advanced talks to upgrade their agricultural trade pact and reduce barriers for American farm exports to the Middle Eastern country, according to two people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named because the talks are confidential.

The U.S. and Israel confirmed the planned meeting without providing additional details. Officials held an earlier round of negotiations in recent months. [ Source: Fortune (Read More…) ]

US adds only 20,000 workers in February; jobless rate at 3.8 percent

(Worthy News) – U.S. payrolls added just 20,000 workers in February, slowing sharply after outsize gains in January despite a government shutdown.

The increase reported by the U.S. Labor Department on Friday was a fraction of the average estimate of 181,000 from economists surveyed by FactSet. The unemployment rate, calculated separately, fell to 3.8 percent from 4 percent in January and compares with a nearly 50-year low of 3.7 percent in November.

Payrolls “saw a large upside surprise in January,” Zentner said before the report. “We expect some payback in February, where we look for a sharp moderation in employment growth.” [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Federal Judges Increasingly Block Presidential Orders

(Worthy News) – In January, a little-known federal judge in Pennsylvania blocked new Trump administration rules that would have allowed employers to deny women free birth control benefits on religious and moral grounds.

Judge Wendy Beetlestone’s tool? A nationwide preliminary injunction enjoining the Trump administration from enforcing the rules not only in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the two states suing the government, but throughout the United States.

With the stroke of a pen, Beetlestone, an Obama appointee, blocked a policy albeit temporarily that opponents say could adversely affect the lives of millions of women. [ Source: VOA News (Read More…) ]

House Democrats push to make Mueller report public

(Worthy News) – Six U.S. House committee leaders introduced a nonbinding resolution on Friday expressing their desire to see the report from special counsel Robert Mueller to be released to the public once it is complete.

In a joint statement issued Friday, the committee leaders, all Democrats, urged newly confirmed Attorney General William Barr to commit to releasing the full details of the Mueller report to both the public and to the Congress once the report was finalized by the special counsel.

“As the Department of Justice made clear over the last two years, DOJ policy permits disclosure of investigative materials when it serves the public interest, even as they pertain to ‘uncharged third parties.’ The public is clearly served by transparency with respect to any investigation that could implicate or exonerate the President and his campaign. We urge our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join us in supporting this common sense resolution,” the statement read. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Britain braces for make-or-break Brexit vote

(Worthy News) – British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to reveal on Monday what changes, if any, she has secured to her EU divorce deal, on the eve of a crucial vote in parliament less than three weeks before Brexit day.

Two months ago, parliament overwhelmingly rejected the withdrawal agreement May has struck with the European Union, and sent her back to Brussels to renegotiate.

But as MPs prepare to vote again on the deal on Tuesday, the prime minister has little to show for her efforts, prompting warnings of another humiliating defeat. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Hamas is willing to risk war to avoid economic collapse

(Worthy News) – Tensions between Israel and Hamas are surging again, following a string of attacks from Gaza and Israeli retaliation airstrikes.

The reason for the deteriorating is ultimately simple: Hamas is struggling to manage Gaza economically, it refuses to divert funds from its military wing to civilian needs, and the Strip’s infrastructure is eroding at an alarming rate.

All of these factors add up to a potential implosion in Gaza, which could mean that the Islamist regime will find itself facing an internal revolt. To avoid this fate, Hamas is doing what it has tried to do for an entire year: escalate the security situation, and ratchet up the pressure on Israel and other regional actors, though stop short of triggering a war. As caliphate crumbles, ISIS fighters rage over absent leader al-Baghdadi

(Worthy News) – As the once-powerful Islamic State (ISIS) crumbles, and its desperate fighters make a last stand in its final enclave surrounded by U.S.-backed coalition forces, its ideological leader is nowhere to be found.

ISIS militants who have surrendered to coalition forces believe that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has abandoned the struggle when his leadership is needed most.

His absence is causing deep fissures within the crumbling terrorist organization, which, though eroded, still boasts between 28,000 and 32,000 soldiers. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]

Family continues ministry of missionary killed in Africa 3 years ago; 1,000 kids helped

(Worthy News) – It’s been over three years since American missionary Michael Riddering was among dozens of Christians killed by al-Qaeda in West Africa. But today, his ministry to the orphaned and poor there continues with national partners and the help of his family.

In 2011, Riddering, along with his wife, sold all their possessions in the U.S. to run an orphanage and women’s crisis center in West Africa operated by an American mission group called Sheltering Wings in West Africa. He was killed when gunmen opened fire on a coffee shop just minutes after Riddering arrived in January 2016.

Riddering was driving a ministry van on his way to pick up a group of about 15 missionaries at the airport. But since their flight was late, he decided to get some coffee. Minutes after arriving at the cafe, the attack began and 28 people were killed. [ Source: Christian Post (Read More…) ]

Israeli jets strike Hamas targets after mortar launched from Gaza

(Worthy News) – Israeli planes struck targets in the Gaza Strip early Sunday, the latest tit-for-tat cross-border fighting that has set the restive region on edge.

The Israel Defense Forces said fighter jets and aircraft hit several targets, including a military compound in the north of the Strip and two naval vessels belonging to the Hamas terror group.

The army said the strikes were in response to the rocket attack, as well as “continuing terror activities from the Strip, including balloon explosives and causing harm to security infrastructure in the last several days.” [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]
