Syrian Christians Hunted by Radical Jihadists

Syrian Christians Hunted by Radical Jihadists

(Worthy News) – Many Christians – all of them former Muslims – feared a genocide as they saw radical Islamic groups on their way to the Syrian city of Afrin. CBN News Middle East Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell talked with one humanitarian aid worker who helped these Christians find a safe haven.

Charmaine Hedding, founder of the Shai Fund – an organization providing humanitarian relief to the persecuted church in the Middle East – kept in touch in touch with many of these Christians. What she learned was alarming.

“A lot of information was coming to them that when these different people who came in who support this radical Islamic ideology that we have seen with ISIS and al Qaeda that they would behead the Christians and they would kill them. And because many of these Christians were originally Muslim background believers they were particularly going to be targeted,” Hedding said. [ Source (Read More…) ]

‘Never again’: Trump’s promise against signing huge spending bills will be hard to keep

‘Never again’: Trump’s promise against signing huge spending bills will be hard to keep

(Worthy News) – President Trump vowed he would never get snookered into signing another one of Congress‘ bloated, budget-busting spending bills, but the resounding response from Washington was “fat chance.”

Longtime budget watchdogs — the same folks whose alarms went mostly unheeded as the national debt nearly quadrupled to $21 trillion over the past two decades — say it’s more likely that Mr. Trump will be gritting his teeth repeatedly and inking his name on more massive spending monstrosities to come.

After all, the same pressures that forced Mr. Trump to sign a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill Friday will be just as powerful when the 2019 funding package lands on his desk. [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]

Israeli Technology Able to Make Water From Thin Air

Israeli Technology Able to Make Water From Thin Air

(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is hailing an extraordinary water-generation technology invented in Israel that he declares “can change the world.”

In a speech to AIPAC in March, the Israeli leader told the story of an African woman who used to walk “eight hours a day to give water to her children — four hours one way to a well, four hours back.”

Now, Netanyahu says, an Israeli firm has designed a device that produces clean drinking water from ambient air, literally transforming her life. Netanyahu calls it “technology that improves on Moses.” [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

U.S. House panel to probe China military footprint in Africa: chairman

U.S. House panel to probe China military footprint in Africa: chairman

(Worthy News) – U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said his committee will investigate China’s efforts to gain military and economic power in Africa.

The California Republican told “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” that China’s investment in African countries would allow Beijing to strengthen its grip over world trade.

The Trump administration has stepped up actions to punish China over what he says is theft of U.S. intellectual property, moving last week to impose tariffs on $60 billion worth of Chinese imported good. China has denied engaging in unfair trade practices and threatened to retaliate with its own tariffs on U.S. companies. [ Source Reuters (Read More…) ]

Saudi Arabia says 1 person killed in ballistic missile attack on Riyadh by Yemen rebels

Saudi Arabia says 1 person killed in ballistic missile attack on Riyadh by Yemen rebels

(Worthy News) – Yemen’s Shiite rebels fired a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Saudi Arabia late Sunday on the third anniversary of a kingdom-led war in Yemen, with fragments of one missile over Riyadh killing one person and wounding two.

The casualties were the first in Saudi Arabia’s capital since the Saudi-led war in Yemen began in March 2015, though previous rockets fired by the Yemeni rebels have caused deaths in other parts of the kingdom.

The rebels known as Houthis said they launched a missile attack targeting Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and other sites, again showing their ability to strike deep into the neighboring kingdom amid the stalemated war in Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest country.
