Israel speeds up U.S. Embassy opening in Jerusalem by eliminating bureaucracy

(Worthy News) – The red tape that could have delayed the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem was cut on Tuesday, when the National Planning and Construction Council authorized plans to build a wall and escape route from the structure chosen, when the embassy moves from Tel Aviv.

Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon exercised his rarely used authority to fast-track the process, so that the embassy will be able to move to Jerusalem – in part – in May, in conjunction with the celebrations of the state’s 70th year.

Kahlon – who tweeted his plan to President Donald Trump last week – plans in the coming days to sign onto the council’s decision to exempt the construction on the US-government owned Diplomat Hotel from going through the Jerusalem Municipality’s bureaucratic process. Mattis: U.S. Nearly Bombed Russians in Syria a Second Time

(Worthy News) – U.S. military forces in the Middle East nearly bombed a group of Russian mercenaries working with pro-government forces in Syria for a second time, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis revealed Tuesday.

Mattis, speaking to reporters at the Pentagon, also defended the mass expulsion of Russian intelligence officers around the world in response to Moscow’s use of a deadly nerve agent in attempting to assassinate a defector in Britain.

On the Syrian incident, Mattis said within the past week a group of Russian mercenaries moved across a river that was a line set up to deconflict U.S.-backed and Russian-backed rebel groups and into an area were Russians were not supposed to be operating. U.S., South Korea agree to new trade deal

U.S., South Korea agree to new trade deal

(Worthy News) – The U.S. and South Korea have agreed to a new trade deal that promises to boost America auto exports and limit imports of Koran steel, senior Trump administration officials said Tuesday.

The agreement was struck following months of negotiations, but President Trump’s new tariffs on steel and aluminum gave the U.S. added leverage in the final bargaining sessions.

“This is both a good deal for both countries and a very big deal in the history of U.S. trade negotiations,” said a senior administration official who briefed reporters on the deal. “This agreement is visionary and innovative, and underscores a pattern of failure by previous administrations to negotiate fair and reciprocal trade deals that benefit both countries.” [ Source: Washington Times (Read More…) ]
