Report: Israeli stealth fighters fly over Iran

(Worthy News) – Two Israeli F-35 fighter jets entered Iranian airspace over the past month, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on Thursday. The act is a signal of heightened regional tensions, especially in light of recent Israeli military attacks in Syria, including against Iranian bases in the country.

Sources quoted in Al-Jarida stated that two stealth fighters flew over Syrian and Iraqi airspace to reach Iran, and even targeted locations in the Iranian cities Bandar Abbas, Esfahan and Shiraz.

The report states that the two fighter jets, among the most advanced in the world, circled at high altitude above Persian Gulf sites suspected of being associated with the Iranian nuclear program. [ Source: Jerusalem Post (Read More…) ]

PM orders to restrict Israeli lawmakers’ visits to Temple Mount

(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered that visits to Temple Mount by Israeli MKs be significantly restricted for the next three months.

The decision was made at the end of an assessment meeting with senior security officials held on Sunday, during which Netanyahu was convinced that the current security situation is too volatile to allow lawmakers to visit the site.

Meir Ben-Shabbat, the head of the National Security Council, said the restriction will last until the end of Ramadan on June 15 and will then be reevaluated. [ Source: Jerusalem Online (Read More…) ]

Hawaii Lawmakers Legalize Medically Assisted Suicide

Hawaii Lawmakers Legalize Medically Assisted Suicide

(Worthy News) – Hawaii lawmakers approved legislation Thursday that would make it the latest liberal-leaning state to legalize medically assisted suicide.

The state Senate voted 23-2 to pass the measure that has already cleared the House. It allows doctors to fulfill requests from terminally ill patients for prescription medication that will allow them to die. The governor has said he will sign the bill, which would make Hawaii the sixth state to legalize the practice, plus Washington, D.C.

The legislation includes safeguards intended to prevent abuse, but opponents said it puts the poor, elderly, sick and disabled at risk. Lawmakers have heard hours of impassioned testimony from advocates and opponents. [ Source: CBN News (Read More…) ]

US to leave Syrian battlefield ‘very soon,’ Trump declares

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump insisted Thursday that US forces would pull out of Syria “very soon” and lamented what he said was Washington’s waste of $7 trillion in Middle East wars.

In a populist address to industrial workers in Ohio, Trump said US forces were close to securing all of the territory that the Islamic State jihadist group once claimed.

“We’ll be coming out of Syria, like, very soon. Let the other people take care of it now,” he promised, to applause. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

US says Russian expulsion of diplomats marks ‘deterioration’ in ties

(Worthy News) – Russia’s expulsion of 60 US diplomats and shuttering of one of its consulates marks a “further deterioration” in relations between Washington and Moscow, the White House said Thursday.

The US had ordered a similar number of diplomats from Russia to leave and the shuttering of one of its consulates as part of an international effort to isolate the country after an ex-spy and his daughter were poisoned in England in a nerve agent attack blamed on Moscow.

“Russia’s action today to expel American diplomats marks a further deterioration in the United States-Russia relationship,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Egypt’s Sisi heads for landslide election win with low turnout

Egypt’s Sisi heads for landslide election win with low turnout

(Worthy News) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi cruised toward a landslide election victory against no real opposition but early results showed a lower turnout than the vote that brought him to power in 2014, despite efforts to get more Egyptians to the polls.

The vote this week had long been set to hand Sisi a second term after a crackdown against serious contenders left one challenger, widely dismissed as a dummy candidate. Critics say the contest recalled the kind of vote that kept Arab autocrats in power for decades before the 2011 Arab Spring.

With the election seen by many, including Sisi, as a referendum on his presidency, the focus is on turnout which he has sought to support tough economic reforms and a fight against Islamist militants. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]
