Kavanaugh Says Gov’t Can’t Force Christian Groups to Pay for Abortion Drugs

(Worthy News) – U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has stated that the federal government cannot compel Christian organizations to provide coverage for abortion-inducing drugs.

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, asked Kavanaugh on Thursday during a Senate hearing about the case Priests for Life et al. v. United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Kavanaugh, a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, had authored a dissent against the court’s decision to reject Priests for Life’s petition for an appeal. He explained during the hearing why he supported the group Priests for Life’s argument that the HHS preventive services mandate violated their religious liberty. Envoy: US won’t present peace plan that fails to meet Israel’s security needs

(Worthy News) – “We will not put forth a plan or endorse a plan that doesn’t meet all of Israel’s security issues because they are of extreme importance to us,” U.S. Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt said in an interview to the Land of Israel Network over the weekend.

Greenblatt said the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump was “completely committed to Israel’s security and we believe the plan will clearly reflect this, and that ultimately both sides will have to feel comfortable with the plan. … So what we want people to ask themselves after reading the plan is: Will we better off with this plan or continuing without it? We think both sides are going to gain a lot more than they give.”

Last week Greenblatt said Trump wanted this to be a “year of peace.” [ Source: Israel Hayom (Read More…) ]

Trump Admin. Reopens Asylum Cases of Indonesian Christians Facing Deportation

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration has reopened the asylum cases of nearly three dozen Indonesian Christian immigrants who face the possibility of deportation back to a country where they could be persecuted.

New Hampshire Public Radio reports that 44 of the 51 Indonesian Christians named in a class action lawsuit over their deportation orders last year received notice on Wednesday that their asylum requests are now being reconsidered by the U.S. government.

The decision came from the Justice Department’s Board of Immigration Appeals and comes after a judge had previously ruled that the government could not deport the Christians while they seek to have their cases reheard. [ Source: Christian Post (Read More…) ]

Trump administration to take tough stance against International Criminal Court

(Worthy News) – The United States on Monday will adopt an aggressive posture against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, threatening sanctions against its judges if they proceed with an investigation into alleged war crimes committed by Americans in Afghanistan.

President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, John Bolton, is to make the announcement in a midday speech to the Federalist Society, a conservative group, in Washington. It will be his first major address since joining the Trump White House.

“The United States will use any means necessary to protect our citizens and those of our allies from unjust prosecution by this illegitimate court,” Bolton will say, according to a draft of his speech seen by Reuters. [ Source: Channel News Asia (Read More…) ]
