Bolivia Finally Gives Evangelicals the Same Rights as Catholics

(Worthy News) – Evangelicals in Bolivia received a major religious freedom boost this week from the same administration that banned evangelism last year.

Months after Evo Morales criminalized proselytizing—before swiftly reversing course—the Bolivian president reached out to Christians to help draft legislation to recognize evangelical churches and institutions. This week, he made it official.

“With this law, all churches have the same rights,” said Morales. “There is equality. There is neither a primary nor a secondary nor an underground church like before. Now it is a team effort and fight.” [ Source: Christianity Today (Read More…) ]

New North American trade deal modestly boosts U.S. economy, trade panel finds

(Worthy News) – The new North American free trade pact would modestly boost the U.S. economy, especially auto parts production, but may curb vehicle assembly and limit consumer choice in cars, a hotly anticipated analysis from the U.S. International Trade Commission showed on Thursday.

The ITC report is a crucial step in the push for Congress to consider ratification of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which was signed by President Donald Trump and the leaders of the other two countries last year to replace the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement.

The report estimates that annual U.S. real gross domestic product would increase by 0.35 percent, or $68.5 billion, on an annual basis compared to a NAFTA baseline, and would add 176,000 U.S. jobs, while raising U.S. exports. [ Source: Reuters (Read More…) ]

IDF general: Hezbollah still planning Galilee invasion, despite anti-tunnel op

(Worthy News) – The new commander of the IDF’s Ground Forces said Thursday the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah was still planning to carry out a surprise invasion of northern Israel, despite the recent Israeli operation to uncover and destroy an extensive network of cross-border attack tunnels dug by the Iran-backed militia.

Maj. Gen. Yoel Strick was tapped to lead the military’s Ground Forces in February, amid increased criticism charging that Israeli troops were not prepared for war. His comments came less than four months months after the IDF concluded its anti-tunnel operation along the Lebanese border.

“Hezbollah still has plans to invade the Galilee,” he told the Ynet news site in an interview, referring to entering Israeli territory through a cross-border tunnel network. “Of course we won’t allow that to happen, we will thwart these plans.” [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Mueller says Russia’s GRU stole Clinton, DNC emails and gave them to WikiLeaks

(Worthy News) – Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, released Thursday to the public in redacted form, cites substantial evidence showing Russian actors hacked Democratic email accounts and disseminated the thousands of stolen emails via WikiLeaks in 2016.

Thousands of emails were stolen by the Russians from Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and other Democratic staffers and associates.

The Mueller report said Russia’s Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, or GRU, stole these emails and then distributed them through two GRU-operated fronts — the DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 websites. Mueller further reports “the GRU units transferred many of the documents they stole from the DNC and the chairman of the Clinton Campaign to WikiLeaks.” DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 were the Russian conduits for communication with WikiLeaks, according to Mueller. North Carolina governor vetoes ‘born alive’ abortion bill

(Worthy News) – North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has vetoed legislation that would have clarified that babies born alive after botched abortions are to receive medical care that is similar to what other premature babies would receive.

“Laws already protect newborn babies, and this bill is an unnecessary interference between doctors and their patients,” Cooper, a Democrat, said in a statement. “This needless legislation would criminalize doctors and other healthcare providers for a practice that simply does not exist.”

The bill, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, would have resulted in doctors who flout the law facing prison time, fines, and civil damages. It’s not clear how many attempted abortions end instead in live births, though adults who have said they have survived abortions have lobbied for the measures at the state and federal level. Supporters of such bills say that babies are otherwise left to die. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

U.S. Intelligence Institutionally Politicized Toward Democrats

(Worthy News) – The CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies have become bastions of political liberals and the pro-Democratic Party views of intelligence personnel have increased under President Donald Trump, according to a journal article by a former CIA analyst.

John Gentry, who spent 12 years as a CIA analyst, criticized former senior intelligence leaders, including CIA Director John Brenan, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former deputy CIA director Michael Morell, along with former analyst Paul Pillar, for breaking decades-long prohibitions of publicly airing their liberal political views in attacking Trump.

The institutional bias outlined in a lengthy article in the quarterly International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence risks undermining the role of intelligence in support of government leaders charged with making policy decisions. [ Source: Washington Free Beacon (Read More…) ]
