Trump to cut off all purchases of Iranian oil in escalation of ‘pressure campaign’

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration is requiring all countries to stop buying oil from Iran or face U.S. sanctions, an escalation of a policy that could roil world energy markets.

“Our goal has been to get countries to cease importing Iranian oil entirely,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at a press conference Monday. “We will no longer grant any exemptions. We are going to zero across the board.”

The sanctions are intended to punish nations that buy oil from Iran, after President Trump rejected the nuclear deal with Tehran last May, as a way to push the country to end destabilizing activity in the Middle East. [ Source: Washington Examiner (Read More…) ]

Supreme Court to decide whether federal sex discrimination law protects LGBT workers

(Worthy News) – The Supreme Court will consider whether a federal civil rights law barring workplace discrimination on the basis of sex provides protections for gay and transgender employees.

The court on Monday said it would take up a trio of cases involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, and religion. Two of the cases raise the question of whether Title VII prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, while the third centers on whether the law bars discrimination based on gender identity. Terrorist attacks on Christians ‘happening more and more’: ex-FBI special agent

(Worthy News) – Speaking in the wake of the Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka, a counterterrorism expert told Fox News radical Islamic terrorism is spreading beyond the Middle East and is ‘happening more and more.’

Bobby Chacon, a counterterrorism expert, told “Fox & Friends” Monday that violence on Christians on one of the holiest days of the calendar is nothing new, but claimed the deadly ideology behind the attacks is spreading.

“It’s another sign that the Middle East is not the sole source of these attacks and that we’ll see more of these attacks in places where we’ve seen relative stability,” Chacon said. “These countries need to get a grip on it.” [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]
