Half of Americans Say Evangelicals Are Discriminated Against

(Worthy News) – Though evangelical Protestants remain the largest faith group in the country, as clashes over their beliefs turn up in the public square, half the country has come to believe evangelicals face discrimination in the US.

A new report from the Pew Research Center reveals that Americans see discrimination on the rise or holding steady across demographic groups, with evangelical Christians and Jews experiencing a significant uptick over the past few years.

Fifty percent of US adults agree that evangelical Christians are subject to discrimination, up from 42 percent in 2016. One in five (18%) say that evangelicals—about a quarter of the population—face “a lot” of discrimination. [ Source: Christianity Today (Read More…) ]

Israel Air Force opens second F-35 squadron

(Worthy News) – The Israeli Air Force opened a second squadron of F-35 stealth fighter jets, The Jerusalem Post learned on Thursday.

The squadron will be called “Defenders of the South.”

California AG’s Planned Parenthood ties under fire in undercover pro-life investigators case

(Worthy News) – There’s no doubt that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is a staunch pro-choice Democrat, but the question is whether he’s too close to Planned Parenthood to prosecute undercover pro-life investigators David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt.

Their effort to force Mr. Becerra to recuse himself received a boost Friday when the California Supreme Court ordered the suspension a preliminary hearing scheduled for Monday to consider their petition accusing him and his predecessor, Sen. Kamala Harris, of being motivated by political bias.

Neither Mr. Becerra nor Ms. Harris has made any secret of their Planned Parenthood support. The organization has given thousands in campaign donations to the Democrats, hosting his primary election party and working with her office on a 2016 bill to crack down on hidden-camera probes against health-care providers, including Planned Parenthood. 18 Dead in Cameroon as Boko Haram Travels Across the Border from Nigeria

by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Two separate attacks in Cameroon’s Far North region, both by Boko Haram, have claimed the lives of 18 people.

Islamic militants made their way into the Madagascar neighborhood of Blangoua Monday evening, taking the lives of seven people, following an attack two weeks ago in Tchakamari area that left eleven “charred” bodies in its wake, according to security services.

The Far North of Cameroon, which borders Nigeria, has seen terrorist activity in recent months as the conflict in Nigeria between Islamic State West Africa, or Boko Haram, and the Christian population has spilled over the border into Cameroon, Nigeria’s southern neighbor.

In November a woman tried to blow herself up in Amchide, injuring 29 people.

It was not the first incursion of the West African branch of IS into the majority Christian nation, where it is estimated that 53% of the population identifies as either Catholic or Protestant. Cameroonian security forces have claimed that 2,500 people were slaughtered by Boko Haram in their country between 2014 and 2017.

As of yet, Cameroon is absent from Open Doors U.S.A.’s World Watch List 2019.
